    Found in Malaysia and Brunei.

    When the colony is

threatened, if combat hasfailed, it will commit an

explosive suicidal act viaautothysis. This causes the antto spray a strong poison in alldirections, and to shoot a glue

like substance out of itsmandibles to entangle the

foes, letting the poison slowlykill them.

    Found in Central Africa.

The Hairy Frog is only around 11cm

long, and is a carnivore from birth,

with several rows of horned teeth,

    feeding on slugs, myriapods,

    spiders, beetles and grasshoppers.

Their defence mechanism is a setof retractable claws made of

sharp bone. However, to do this, it

breaks its own bones and pierces

    through its skin, intentionally. No

one has yet seen the clawsretracted clearly, but it is thought

that it happens inactively, with the

    skin regenerating.

Parasitic fresh water catfish native tothe Amazon river.

Adults grow to around 15cm, andhave translucent bodies. They alsooften travel in large groups. Theirmain feature , however, are theirrows of backwards pointing teeth intheir circular mouth.

To catch its prey, it detects thestreams of water made by a fishsgills. It then sticks itself into the skin ofthe fish with its backwards teeth, and eats by either feeding off theblood, or even spinning to drillthrough the meat, leaving largegaping holes. They then sink to thebottom of the river to digest theirmeal.

    Located in Papa New Guinea,

    and discovered in 1989.

This is the first ever documented

    poisonous bird, containing the

    chemical homobatrachotoxin, the

same chemical found in thepoison dart frog, making it the

    worlds most poisonous bird.

It is thought that it could obtain

    the poison through the Choresine

beetles which it eats, as the birds

    have different poison levels.

If the bird is scratched or touched

only partly, only numbness is felt. Ifa high quantity of the poison is

taken in, side effects may include

    paralysis and death.

By inserting certain parts of spider

    DNA into goat embryos, scientists

    have created the hybrid between

    a spider and a goat.

    The spider goat acts almost

exactly the same as a normalgoat, but produces a web like

    substance ,instead of milk, much

    like those found in spiders

The reason this was created was

to produce a web like substance

in large quantities, as it is one ofthe strongest and most flexible

    substance on Earth
