Page 1: Storyboard New

The establishing shot will be a long shot of both the characters walking to the abandoned building. The long shot will allow us to show the audience that the area is isolated. The characters will both be wearing casual clothing to show they both have the same social status and will be positioned closely together to show that they are friends. The more confident character will be holding the Ouija board while the other will be carrying the lamp. This shot will last between 0-5 seconds.

Page 2: Storyboard New

The second shot will be a close up of the character holding and walking with the Ouija board. This will indicate to the audience the genre of our title sequence and what it will be about. This shot will also be very short (2-3 seconds) because we only wanted to give a glimpse of it to make it seem mischievous. This shot will take place between 6-8 seconds in our title sequence.

Page 3: Storyboard New

This shot will be a tilting shot to show where the characters are climbing to. This shot will show the characters approaching the building and beginning to climb it, the building also provides a good backdrop for some credits to appear. This shot will last around 10 seconds and will take place between 8 and 22 seconds.

Page 4: Storyboard New

This is the same shot howeverit shows both of the characters climbing the ladder and the more brave and confident character will go first.

Page 5: Storyboard New

This shot will be a close up of one of the characters trying to force their way into the building. The door will be uneasy to open to signify to the audience that the two characters are trespassing, doing something they shouldn’t be and that the building is has aged and has not been used in a while. Abandoned and aged buildings are often used as a convention In horror movies, so this will reinforce to the audience that this opening title sequence is a horror movie. This shot will be 3-5 seconds long. It will take place between 23 and 27 seconds.

This shot will be on the interior of the building and will show the door opening. This shot will be a medium shot. There will also be a fade into black before the characters enter the building. It will take place between 28-35 seconds.

Page 7: Storyboard New

This shot will show the two characters entering the building and both of them will be looking around to indicate that they are exploring this area. We will try to make this shot between 36-51 seconds.

Page 8: Storyboard New

This will be a long shot and in this shot the characters think that they need to turn the lamp on. The shot will be taken from behind a wooden beam and will be handheld to signify to the audience that something else is present in the room with the two characters. This will take place between 52 and 58 seconds.

Page 9: Storyboard New

This shot will be a close up of one of the characters turning on the lamp, this shot will be very shot and will last between 3-5 seconds and will take place between 59sec-1:05min

Page 10: Storyboard New

This shot will be the same as shot no.8 (taken from behind a wooden beam to give the impression and feeling that something else is present in the room. This shot will be between 1:06-1:08.

Page 11: Storyboard New

This shot will be a long tracking shot and will follow the characters to the spot where they will play. The characters will find a place to play the Ouija board and sit down in anticipation. This shot will last between 1:08-1:20

Page 12: Storyboard New

Should we light the candles?

The next shots will be a shot reverse shot of character 1 asking character 2 if they should light the candles. This shot will take place between 1:21-1:22.There will be very low key lighting here and there will be lighting aimed at the characters from below their faces which is a common convention used in horror genre movies.

Yeah, I think that’s a good idea, it’s a bit dark in here.

This shot will be second part of the shot reverse shot and will take place between 1:22-1:25

Page 14: Storyboard New

In this shot the characters lighting the candles so that they can make it brighter and play the game. This shot will be a two/medium shot. It will take place between 1:26-1:49. The lighting in this shot will be provided by the candles and the lamp.

Page 15: Storyboard New

This shot will show the two characters beginning to play the game and placing their hands on the board. This shot will take place between 1:50 and 2:01.

Page 16: Storyboard New

Hands

This shot will be very brief and will show the characters hands on the board while blood appears suddenly and rains onto the board. This shot will take place between 2:02-2:03.

Page 17: Storyboard New

This will be the final shot of our opening title sequence, it will be a long shot and will show the two characters running and trying to escape in fear, however the door will close before they reach it and they will be locked inside. This shot will take place between 2:04 and 2:09.
