DESCRIPTION

Brief research into character influences for my Story Telling project

TRANSCRIPT

• Could be used a method to reach the window or • The character slips and head lands in the bowl or • Could be used as a weapon (if there is more than one character) or • It houses a secondary character or • Is the reason behind the Pet Shop Owner’s disappearance or • Is an object in the room that was already there • Is something that is valuable to the owner • Is abstract – It may be a fish bowl but with a twist? Not literally a fish bowl...

Tom and Jerry uses the plot format of two natural enemies, a cat and a mouse but doesn’t stay traditional as the cat rarely ever gets the mouse. In my story I could have the Window Washer

as Tom and the Fish in the bowl as a Jerry.

Recognised as one of the longest and most famous rivalries in American cinema.

Involves graphically outrageous comic violence and things that you wouldn’t see on TV today like the characters smoking cigarettes.

Jerry has the brain and wits and always gets the better of Tom, considering he is much smaller and should be no physical match.

Influenced by Tom and Jerry and is a show within a show (The Simpsons). It has very graphic and over the top violence which sees the cat being killed in almost every episode by the sadistic and very disturbed mouse. Influenced by Tom and Jerry and is a show

Both characters try to kill each other with extreme gore, violence and blood.

Itchy’s origin is considered to be a parody of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the first Itchy and Scratchy episode is a parody on Disney’s Steamboat Willy (Mickey Mouse)

Alfredo Linguini is the human kitchen porter in the Pixar film Ratatouille. He is one of the main characters in the film and fills the role as a clumsy, physically inept character who has bigger dreams of becoming a chef. He is given a job in one of the most reputable restaurants in Paris by the current but devious head chef and owner Skinner. Linguini’s role as kitchen garbage boy grants him limited access to the kitchen but enough to see him calamitously behave in it. Linguini is a simple living, gentle character with little self belief. He doubts his credibility but dreams to find success. Linguini goes through a journey of self discovery and accepts that anything can happen if you put your mind to it.

Klaus is a supporting character in Seth MacFarlane's American Dad. Originally Klaus was an Olympic medal winning human until his brainwaves were swapped with a gold fish by the CIA to prevent him from winning more medals. The CIA then ordered one of its agents (Main character Stan Smith) to let the fish take refuge in his home to pose as a pet to hide the illegal actions they performed on Klaus as a human. This was done against his will and is visibly angry over his fate, where he is frequently frustrated or down beat about life. Klaus seems to have psychologically adapted to his new body form and has developed a way to survive as long as a part of his body is submerged in

liquid. His unbalanced and unpredictable personality gives the impression that he is now completely insane as he is prone to bouts of maniacal laughter. In the future, Klaus does unexplainably return to human form and goes on to have a wife, child and grandchild. Klaus is of German descent and the negative stereotype is regularly pressed on whenever Klaus gets angry or has sadistic spats which is a regular occurrence. Klaus has a very dark side and a murderous streak that he is not afraid to let loose.

A Morgue (or Mortuary) is a place to store dead human bodies that are waiting for identification, forensic investigation, autopsy, burial or cremation. Generally found in hospitals but there are many private establishments elsewhere. A morgue can also be a funeral home.
