Challenges and growth
The road ahead
Challenges
• Offshore wind sites typically closer to shore – forecasting more complex
• Many smaller installations vs. few, large ones
• Lighter equipment
• Higher weather sensitivity
- Waves – widespread use of small boats
- Wind – e.g., lifts of blades up to 150 m
• High sensitivity to lightning
• Industry still young back then – some clients less experienced
- But we learned and are now probably the most experienced weather
forecasting provider for the offshore wind industry
2012
• Office in Hamburg
- 0.5 person (now 3.5)
• From the beginning focusing on the
emerging offshore wind market
• Successfully managed to win more
than 80 percent of German projects
over the next few years
2012
2013
2014
