“I don’t have a patent.”

“You’ll have to sign an NDA.”

“We’re keeping it quiet.”

Comments like these are a great reason why 90% of startups FAIL.

In a world where our lives have never been more connected, many entrepreneurs still balk at the

opportunity to share their ideas.

They leave questions unanswered, and jump into a venture that will potentially result in a lot of

lost time and money.

You need to get Answers to these Questions.

How?

By talking to real People!

Is your Idea Possible?

- Many startup ideas are literally impossible to build or grow

- Even if it sounds great in your head, it still needs to be able to become a reality

- You need to get concrete feedback and evidence on it’s feasibility, cost, and scalability

Is your Idea Possible?

How do you find out?

Reach out to those that hold the technical experience and knowledge to examine your

current offering and the strategy and plans you have to promote growth. Without their input, you

might start building something with no future.

Who are the Customers?

- If you want to make money, you’re going to need to find some customers

- Assumptions may point to one demographic, but they may not be a great fit for your offering

- What evidence do you have that your market is the correct demographic?

Who are the Customers?

How do you find out?

You need to find out where your prospective target customers are located online and offline, and start engaging them in a personal manner

to see if they’re really interested in what you’re building. Don’t be afraid to share details!

What do they really Want?

- Your target customers want more than the basic concept of your idea

- They want details, features, price points, etc.

- Which of those details will be most attractive to them? Which do they disagree with?

What do they really Want?

How do you find out?

Once you’ve guaranteed demand by your target demographic, you need to communicate the

details of what you’re building, and obtain insights into their preferences and sensitivity to certain

features and additions to your offering.

Are they Excited?

- Launching your idea will be a telling experience for the long-run strategy you have in order

- A successful launch depends on anticipation by your network and potential customers

- Are your customers aware that you’re finally ready? Do they care?

Are they Excited?

How do you find out?

You can’t get people excited without sharing your plans for your launch and more. Keeping

these things secret will greatly hinder your launch and the number of valuable early-adopters.

Enough with the Fear!

- Fear of sharing is paralyzing to startup development

- No one is going to “steal” your concept

- Ideas are everywhere, but very few people are willing to drop their responsibilities and shift their priorities to take on a new idea

Welcome Rejection

- No one wants to be told “no” or that their ideas aren’t going to work

- The market doesn’t want every idea, and yours might be included in that list

- Not getting the responses you were looking for should be educational, and help you build a better offering for the future

Share you ideas.

Engage in conversations with people.

Get their insights and feedback.

Start building something that the market really wants!
