Case Study THE CLIENT Stonehaven Care Group is a family run company with residential and specialist nursing homes across the South West, providing high-quality personal care. Their homes offer a wide range of services for residents and offer the reassurance of consistently high standards delivered by caring, professional and dedicated care teams. Some of their care homes have been purpose built for care, and some have been converted from stunning historic buildings. All are set in their own grounds, with well-maintained gardens. Whatever their clients’ preferences, the Group has a home for all needs, in locations that really appeal – becoming a real home to their residents. THE CHALLENGE Money spent on energy is money that can’t be spent on care and facilities, so it’s a real challenge to shelter a care home group from inevitable and regular price rises. The trend is always up and the critical element which a good broker has to address is ensuring best rates which include everything. Standing charges and pass through charges like the Climate Change Levy, Unit Rates (time of use surcharge) and a host of other things that most businesses have no idea about, often affect a seemingly low kWh rate and aren’t apparent until bills start arriving.
