We spend millions of pounds housing criminals often for many years, yet we don't do enough to help those such as Link who

are forced to become homeless. Discuss this view.

• What help does society offer?• How effective is this help in a real world?• Are there any problems with the help that is offered? • How could we improve it?• Should prisoners have privileges?• What should we provide for prisoners?• What should we not provide for them?• Is prison just about punishment?• How can we try to ensure that on release from prison,

prisoners are able to lead productive lives?• Should there be support for prisoners as well as victims?

One Minute Speech – pick one the following statements and prepare a one minute speech explaining your thoughts on your

chosen statement. You can make references to the novel or any other research from previous lessons. Ensure you think

about the order of your ideas.

1) Everyone has a choice in life, and Link chose to become homeless.

2) Shelter has taken people's lives and should lose his own. It costs the Government and the taxpayer far too much money to keep such prisoners.

3) Shelter is obviously insane. We should seek to help rather than punish him.
