The 2016 - 2017 school year has gotten off to
a flying start. We have been busy settling into
our classrooms and setting out goals for all our
students through our IEP meetings. We are de-
lighted to have a new outdoor play area with
trampoline, swing and slide. We enjoyed lots of
celebrations this term. We had a spooky Hal-
loween assembly and our school Christmas
party was a great success, even Santa made a
very special appearance.

Christmas Newsletter 2016
Class 1 The children and staff in class 1 have really enjoyed
the term. The themes covered for our class work
were Autumn, Halloween, Winter and Christmas. Our
extra-Curricular activity was a weekly trip to Go
Banana’s which we looked forward to all week. We
had a lovely day in Pots of Fun, Claremorris for our
Christmas outing.
We enjoyed lots of activities this term in
class 2. We visited the library for music
therapy. Story time at the library a great
success partly due to the ever ready as-
sistance of the really helpful staff in the
library. We had a great Christmas day out
where we visited the library, The snow-
globe, Santa Claus and had lunch in the
Meyrick. Due to the great weather we
have been out for a walk almost everyday which the children really love.
We have had lots of lunches and ice cream in the Corralea this year.

Class 3 are busy preparing for their ASDAN Certifi-
cate. ASDAN is a pioneering curriculum development or-
ganisation and awarding body, offering programs and
qualifications that explicitly grow skills for learning, skills
for employment and skills for life. As part of our AS-
DAN program, we are learning about keeping fit, healthy
eating and personal hygiene. We are also discussing our
families, our friends and our likes and dislikes. We can't
wait to show off all our hard work and hopefully our Certifi-
cates in the New Year.
This month we started our new ASDAN Module called Everyday
Living. In this module we will be learning all about myself, people
in our community, areas within our home/school, how to keep
safe and how to ask for help. We enjoyed playing bowling and
our Christmas day out to the Christmas Market in Galway. We
had a lovely walk around the stalls and enjoyed soaking up the
Christmas spirit. We then headed to The Claregalway Hotel
where we had a fabulous lunch.
Class 5 Everybody in class 5 has been working very hard since
returning to school. We have learned lots of new things.
For the month of September we learned all about trans-
portation, October we learned about the life cycles of
different animals, November we learned about our five
senses and December we did lots of christmas activities.
We went to the Christmas market in Erye Square on our
Christmas outing. We had lots of fun. Our favourite part
of the outing was getting to go on the carrousel. We are
all looking forward to Christmas to see what Santa
brings as we all have been so good at school this term.
