OUR MEZZANINE FLOORS ARE DESIGNED TO THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS:

• British Standards structural steel code BS 5950 Parts 1 & 5 structural use of steel in buildings.

• General requirements of Building Regulations and BRE Digest 437.

• Staircases & Handrails – British Standards BS 5395 Parts 1 and 3 and to Building Regulations Park K and Part M as appropriate.

• Loading design category of intended use as covered in British Standards BS 6399 – Part 1 Code of Practice for dead and imposed loads.

• Flooring complies with EN12871: 2010 and to UK National annexes to Eurocodes 1 and 5.

• We incorporate changes and upgrades to the standards applicable to mezzanine � oors as they are introduced so that your � oor will be designed to the highest standard.

• Mezzanine � oor structures need to meet the highest standards so that your staff, your products, your machinery and your company are fully protected.

ABOVE:Flooring can be T&G 38mm chipboard, steel chequer plate, open steel grid, solid timber, or any other sheet material.

Edges are protected with steel handrail, and can be lined with solid or mesh partition panels.

Shelving or racking can be positioned above.

BELOW:Spans & loads are variable. We will design to best meet your requirement and advise on the most economical layout, whilst leaving maximum space.

BOTH:Racks above can be two tier joined to those below or independent to a separate layout.

Goods access can be with pallet safety gates, goods elevators, lifts, or incline belt conveyors.

This application can increase substantially the value of your building and operations.

The of� ce space can be associated with the production or warehouse area, it can be laboratory or testing area, high quality executive of� ces, or CMM and Clean Room Areas depending on the type of partitioning, � ooring and � xtures that we use.

If you have the headroom (probably 4.3m or above) then a mezzanine over an existing area can increase production space without having to move or add new buildings.

We can install goods lifts, incline conveyors, product elevators, or pallet safety gates to ensure that both raw materials and � nished goods can be moved between ground and mezzanine level.

Many of our structures are used to support air handling equipment or other machinery associated with a production or cleanroom facility.

For this complex job, Stodec designed a 9.6kN/m2 heavy duty

loading � oor with joist centres at 400mm. The design also

included 6m high continuous columns to make installation

easier and avoid baseplates on intermediate levels. An

extensive part list and full documentation were essential to

allow smooth export to Africa.
