Ladybirds Time has gone by fast and the first few weeks were all about the children getting used to their new environment, adults, routines and expectations. We are so proud of how well they are settled and progressing in the Ladybirds class. We have also been constantly modelling our class rules and expected behaviours. The children are always excited to talk about the ‘signs of change’ in their environments as they go on walks, bike rides or just on their way to and from school. It’s remarkable how alert and aware they are and the interesting conversations, discussions and ideas they share. ‘Leafman’ ‘Stick Man’ ‘Autumn’ ‘It Was a Cold, Dark Night’ ‘Squirrel’s Autumn Search’ ‘The last Pumpkin’

The children are enjoying our ‘All about me’ topic and it’s amazing to hear how well they describe themselves, features, likes, dislikes and make comparisons. We show appreciation for our differences and always emphasise that although we may look different on the outside, inside we are all the same. They now independently explore alone or in groups using large and small mirrors or just talking about what they see when looking at each other. Our song related to this topic is ; ‘Fabby dabby dee’ and books are displayed at the end of this newsletter.

We have also been practicing and learning about and the importance of washing our hands frequently and how to do it well- We are proudly becoming vigilant germ fighters in the Ladybirds class and its great to see the children being more aware of the visual cards, depicting how to wash hand well and reminding each other. We have been observing and talking about different foods we eat and will continue talking about healthy foods through discussions, questions, games and cooking activities. They are becoming quite keen to talk about what is in their lunch boxes or what they eat at home and we continue to be positive role models with the foods we eat for lunch as well.

Thank you for your support!

The Ladybirds Team (Mrs Charles & Mrs Makondi)

Remember! Please ensure that your child is always dressed appropriately for the weather and have a spare set of clothes in their bags . It is getting colder, but we are still spending a lot of time outside.
