Any lighting or magnification needed Terri Bay has never met a needlework technique she didn’t like. Like so many others, she began with cross-stitch and progressed into Hardanger, Pulled/Drawn work, Blackwork, Ukrainian Whitework, Romanian Point Lace, and many others. Her designing business was born out of frustration over the very small amount of printed work on Ukrainian Embroidery. Terri has a degree in Music Education from Indiana State University and has taught music and needlework in many forms. She currently lives in Minnesota with her husband, three daughters, and specialty fiber donor, Taz.

Special Events

Region Challenge 2015 – A Black Tie Affair Create an original design that relates to or is inspired by the theme A Black Tie Affair. The design can be any size and any medium that uses a threaded needle. A set or series counts as one entry.

Do you see sparkling jewels, satin ball gowns, and long white gloves? Do you see black tuxedoes and pristine bow ties? Do you see chandeliers, candelabras, and champagne? Do you see Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn gazing at each other? Think glamour and elegance as you stitch your Challenge piece! Or create something entirely different out of a collection of…. black neck ties!

Completed pieces will be exhibited at the Carolinas Region Seminar in 2015, and ribbons will be awarded for Teacher’s Choices and Viewers’ Choice. Limit one entry per person and one entry per group (each group participant may also enter one individual project).

If you have any questions, please contact Janet Noble, Seminar Chair.

2015 Ridgecrest Exhibit – Samplers

2015 Seminar participants are invited to submit up to three finished pieces in the category of Samplers.

Per Wikipedia, “a needlework sampler is a piece of embroidery produced as a demonstration or test of skill in needlework. It often includes the alphabet, figures, motifs, decorative borders and sometimes the name of the person who embroidered it and the date. The word “sampler” is derived from the Latin ‘exemplum’ - an example.”

But don’t limit yourself to this specific definition – your exhibition piece(s) can show a collection of stitches, techniques, fibers, or a collection of stitched shells, birds, wild animals, flowers, etc.

All items must be ready to exhibit: pictures must be framed or mounted and ready to hang. Please use wire hangers. Be sure to attach your name for identification purposes and provide a card listing the name of the piece, the designer, and your name.

If you have questions, please contact Janet Noble, Seminar Chair.

LIABILITY FOR Loss or Damage

If you wish to enter the Challenge and/or the Exhibit, insurance coverage may be secured through EGA’s insurance by submitting a completed EGA Exhibit Entry and Insurance Valuation form (found on page 16 of this brochure). If you choose to assign a value to your item, your work will be covered by EGA insurance (with a $250 deductible for the entire exhibit).

If you don’t want insurance, you must complete and sign the form at the bottom under WAIVER OF APPRAISAL OF FINE ARTS.

Studio Time

Bring your own project(s) and stitch for the weekend. This is a great time to work on UFOs and WIPs. It is also a wonderful opportunity to discuss projects, seek ideas, and ask for helpful critiques from fellow stitchers. And, of course, it’s always fun to catch up with your fellow Studio Time stitchers as well.
