We, the residents of The Fountains at
Bronson Place are pleased to announce
that as a community, we collected 232
pounds of food and $1,220 to help feed individuals in the
Kalamazoo area through our participation in the 2016 Loaves
& Fishes food drive. Thanks to all of the residents and
associates who helped to make this year's drive successful.
We are definitely lucky to have a community with a
generous heart!
Watermark UniversityGee's Bend, Alabama is home to many slave descendants whose
source of warmth has become an art form. The Gee's Bend quilts
have been showcased across the country and displayed at the
Smithsonian. Michigan native Janet Dolland has befriended the
quilters in this small community after what started as an afternoon
drive. She has made trips to Gee's Bend more than 50 times and has
sent over 100 pound of fabric to the quilters. Dolland has shared
her experiences and the quilter's stories across Michigan, Indiana,
Ohio, and at Madonna University in Livonia, MI. Dolland will come
to the Springs on March 21, 2017 to continue sharing the beauty of
these quilts.

The Springs
Still Winter?With the beautiful, warm
weather we have had
throughout February, it is
difficult to imagine that we
still have a few weeks of
winter to get through! Lucky
for us, there is always plenty
to do in our community. This
March we celebrate National
Nutrition Month, St. Patrick's
Day and more!
Join in on a beer-tasting this month, or take an armchair trip to
Ireland to learn more about this great country. Across our campus
we will celebrate great Irish Americans. Of course we'll enjoy
samples of Irish culture through a monthly theme meal, music,
crafts, cooking events. Of course we can't neglect basketball in this
month of March Madness! As an extra special treat, Watermark
University brings us part two of Randy Schau's class on The Rules of
Basketball, a class that will teach you the finer points of the game
so that you can fully enjoy the season. May luck follow you through
the Ides of March and into the spring of 2017!
Path to Well-BeingSleep is vital to our well-being and sleep
experts at the National Institute of
Health state that sleep affects our
immune system, appetite, breathing,
blood pressure and cardiovascular
health. Sleep also helps us think more
clearly, have quicker reflexes and focus
better. As we age it is more common to
experience insomnia and healthy sleep
habits can make a big difference. A few
practices include sticking to the same
bedtime routine, avoiding afternoon
naps, exercising early in the day,
winding down without technology the
hour before bedtime and avoiding
cigarettes, alcohol and heavy meals in
the evening. Learn more about the
benefits of better sleep and techniques to
achieve rest at Director Jan Kehl's Health
and Wellness talk on March 2.
ThrivingHere at the Springs, we believe that exercise is vital in leading a healthy
lifestyle. Regardless of age and gender, physical activity has a multitude
of benefits including; weight management, disease prevention, improved
mood, increased energy, and better sleep. To encourage well-being, a
variety of exercise programs are offered at least six times a week to our
residents. These days, aerobic classes and visits to the gym are not the
only form of physical activity. Any vigorous to moderate movement can be
seen as exercise. Walks around the community, jazzercise and chair yoga
are just a few of these fun opportunities to improve your life's vitality. Not
only are our residents staying in shape physically, but our social lives are
thriving while engaging in new fun ways to stay healthy.
