    Activity: VOCABULARY CIRCLE MAP

    Level: All level

    Objectives: 2.2 Process Information for various purposes by

    f. deducing the meaning of unfamiliar words and metaphors byapplying word attack skills;

    h. using print and electronic dictionaries;

    j. making short notes and mapping out ideas.d. presenting information in non-linear forms

    EE. 1.0 Critical and creative thinking skills

    Materials: Word list (create your own-think of your students need) ,dictionary, coloured paper cards,manila card/mahjong paper, glue.

    Strategies/

    Activities:

    Set Induction:

    Teacher:1. Asks Students draw a circle on a piece of paper then create/draw object from the circle.

    For example:A table fan, an orange, a ball etc

    2. Randomly picks some students to share what they draw to the class.3. Teacher picks an object and asks What are the other objects that you draw similar to (anorange)?

    Students may answer: Ball, Earth, face, etcand Why are they similar?

    Students may answer: They are circle ,round etc.4.Teacher asks What are the other objects - totally different from (an orange)?

    Students may answer: Table, television, human, etcand Why are they different from each other?

    5.Explain briefly aboutword, synonym and antonym.Stage 1:

    1. Students are given piece of card each2. Every student is assigned with a word (or more) to work with.

    3. Students fill in their Vocabulary circle map using their own previous knowledge &

    dictionary.

    Stage 2

    1. Students present their words orally, to the whole class. Students may draw,showexpressions, gestures or act out actions related to the word.

    For example, students may draw a line graph to show that something had increased or runin a place to show the state of being energetic. Remind them to be creative.

    2. Students combine their cards on piece of manila card/mahjong paper and put it on theirclass notice board.
