Stewardship Reflections

Jesus Christ has risen today! For those good stewards of their faith who die with

Jesus, they rise with Christ their savior every day. They are an Easter people. Our

Savior is active, alive, and transforming us and our communities of faith, even the

world, at this very moment. Easter is a time of joy, a time of celebration. To have

faith in the risen Lord is also to believe that we are disciples who bear witness to

Christ in a broken and troubled world. To be good stewards of this faith obliges us

to be living witnesses to Christ’s peace at home and in public. Jesus cannot be

found buried in some long forgotten time, in some far away land. He is risen. He

lives within each one of us. Alleluia!

Pascua.

Jesús no

¡Aleluya!

RITE OF CHRISTIAN

INITIATION OF

ADULTS

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

The Celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation takes place during the Easter Vigil Liturgy on Holy Saturday when the Elect receives the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Now the person is fully initiated into the Catholic Church.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) tells us: From the time of the apostles, becoming a Christian has been accomplished by a journey and initiation in several stages. This journey can be covered rapidly or slowly, but certain essential elements will always have to be present: proclamation of the Word, acceptance of the Gospel entailing conversion, profession of faith, Baptism itself, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and admission to Eucharistic communion.”

Congratulations to Isaiah Mitchell, who is now fully initiated into the Catholic Church. Congratulations to Karime Luévanos, Christina Garcia and Nicholas Garcia, Jr. who received Holy Communion for the first time. Congratulations to Jacob Arredondo, Rebeca Arredondo, Isabel Chavira, Christina Garcia, Nicholas Garcia, Jr., Carmen Hernandez, Karla Hernandez and Hector Ramirez, Jr., on receiving the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation and are now in full communion with the Catholic Church.

It is truly beautiful and humbling to witness the coming to faith of our adult peers. To see the workings of Our Lord and the Holy Spirit in the lives of others is such a reminder to us all that God is in pursuit of each of us. It is further a reminder that the call to conversion and the journey toward sanctity is ceaseless and it emphasizes the important role of the sacraments in our lives. It

leaves a profound impression of gratitude for the gift of the Church; our community of the faithful that supports and uplifts

us in our search for God and truth; and the grace we receive through the sacraments.
