LATE WITHDRAWALS

RACE 10

LOFTY MORROW( 4 ) Vet’s Advice. 10 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued. On examination the greyhound was found to be injured in the off side hip and not fit to compete.

Trainer D Lewis had multipole runners engaged at tonight’s meeting, and pre-empted when presenting his first runner, that he thought LOFTY MORROW may not be fit to compete. The greyhound had raced yesterday at The Gardens in a Final, when originally drawn as a reserve. Mr Lewis admitted to Stewards that he had breached GAR 23(1)(a), in that he had failed to examine his greyhound prior to the 9.00am scratching deadline, rather having his muscle man check the greyhound en route to the track this afternoon. As a consequence of the scratching Mr Lewis has denied the second reserve from rightfully obtaining a start.

Stewards found Mr Lewis to be in breach of GAR 23(1)(a), and imposed a monetary penalty of $100.00 in accord with GAR 23(7)

Whilst believing head or muzzle contact had not occurred in this incident, Stewards were of the opinion that SIMMO GOGOLAC( 7 ) had not pursued the lure with due commitment at this point of the race, and as a consequence of it’s actions had more than likely cost itself the race. Stewards therefore invoked GAR 69A(1) for failing to pursue the lure. As this was the greyhounds first offence, SIMMO GOGOLAC( 7 ) was suspended at The Gardens for 28 days, and required to perform a satisfactory trial prior to re-nomination per GAR 69A(2(a).
