Stewarding Your Influence

How did you become a leader?Who…?

trained youEncouraged youInspired youChallenged youAppointed youAsked youModeled for you

How do we build up the women that we work with?

How do we help women to become disciple- making disciples?

Why? “And the things you have heard me say in the presence

of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 timothy 2: 2

“ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Are you able to model:Are you able to share your

own story? Are you able to express the

Gospel?Are you a servant leader?

A Gospel Definition

The Holy God saves sinful man through faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Sharing Your Story Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as select the words to speak.

Choose a theme for your story such as appearances, being a people pleaser, religion vs. relationship.

Be brief.- Share enough about your past to be real, but do not go into a lot of detail.

Transition quickly into talking about how you came to know Christ.

Center on CHRIST.

The person you wish to elevate is Jesus Christ, not yourself.

Be brief and real about your current walk with Christ.

Include how Christ is meeting your needs now and your hope for the future.

Some things to remember as you prepare your story: Don’t use Christian jargon such as “saved”, “convicted”, or

“born again” as these might confuse and alienate non-Christians.

Don’t mention denominations or other groups. Even if you have good feelings about a specific ministry or church, your listener might not share your opinion.

Don’t give the impression that the Christian life is a “bed of roses” or that you no longer have struggles.

Your story can be effective in any casual situation, over a meal, on the golf course, at the lake, at a ball game, anywhere you are having a conversation with a non-believer can be great place to share your story

How my life was before I trusted Christ . .

How I realized my need for Christ . . .

How I trusted Christ . . .

How my life has changed since trusting Christ . . .

What are some practical ways to delegate to the women in your small groups?

Card ministry

Snacks/food sign-up

Emailing out prayer requests

Memory verse?

Birthdays

Outreaches

Table set up

Prayer

Hosting

Organizing social events

Challenges to delegating:

People don’t always come through

Things don’t always get done the way you would have it done

Sometimes members won’t step up to take on responsibilities

How do you handle delegating?

Discuss at your table and be prepared to share one idea with the group please.

What are three specific ways that you can begin to delegate or continue to delegate in your small group this semester?

Specific Ideas for Prayer Requests

ACTS

One word requests

Writing requests on a card and having a volunteer e-mail out the requests.

Set the expectation that by keeping the requests about their lives the group will have the opportunity in sharing in their growth and watching the Lord answer the prayer.

What do you find works in your group?

Tips for delegating:

Look for people that are already doing this

Give small roles to begin with

Development and growth is more important then the task- don’t lose sight of that

Recruit them- ask them personally. Look for people with a passion and interest or create a sign up list. Sometimes people need to be encouraged

Some people are motivated by titles, some are intimidated

Remember, there are different kinds of leaders:

There are outspoken women that don’t mind speaking in front of others. They wouldn’t mind praying for the group or reaching out to new members. They might be willing to lead less

Other outspoken women are great at welcoming women, making things fun, exciting, organizing social events, willing to emcee an event

Encouraging women can be great for coaching new women, sending out notes

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” Hebrews 10:24

Gratitude goes a long way- be sure to

thank women often, and be specific when possible

We are called to develop leadersHow are women already doing the

work that you want to title them to or ask them to do, rather than asking them to do it

Excellence and performance is good, but it can’t be the ultimate value. Our ultimate value must be pouring into and developing others

How do you approach feedback and encouragement?

Discuss at your table and be prepared to share one idea with the group please.

What are three specific ways that you will encourage the women in your group and give them feedback?

What are their gifts?

Do they like to serve behind the scenes and complete tasks?

There may be women willing to comfort, counsel, nurture and pray for others

Do they like to organize? Are they warm and friendly? Do they like hospitality? Do they like to teach, lead or facilitate?

What has worked for you?

What are 3 specific ways that you can help women to discover their gifts, passions and call to be disciple making disciples this semester?

Women will need:The space and freedom to try…and

make mistakes.Honest and direct feedback.Grace and the good news of the

Gospel that as we try and make mistakes we can be free from self concern, pride and fear.

“Key” Questions to be Asking YourselfDo I have a confident grasp of the

basic structure and themes of the Bible?

Am I presently engaging in ministry opportunities in harmony with my spiritual gifts?

Do I have a compelling vision and desire to produce and release disciple making disciples?

Women in Community Mission/Vision Statement

To equip and release women leaders who know and express the authentic Christ in Northwest Arkansas and the world.

Discipleship defined: Truth and life transferred in the context of authentic relationship for the purpose of multiplication.

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
