Protecting Supply Chains
• Protect core areas of port and port-related industrial uses within the
region
• Securing access to the core area through freight corridors
• Resolve key land use conflicts & mitigate incompatible uses
• Supply chain alignment with economic development, transportation,
and land use elements of the State’s comprehensive Moving Freight
Plan
Improved freight and industrial planning around ports and
connecting corridors
Working partnerships between port, freight
and government stakeholders to address
cross-boundary/ interface issues
Beyond the boundary thinking in port master
plans
Better GIS/spatial mapping
Stronger working partnerships with Govt– faster results more
fully supported
Advocating SupplyChain Thinking
Improving Trade Competitiveness- Freight Networks
Increase our Understanding over the Integrated Supply Chains
• Better understand drivers of trade movement across the freight network
• Develop a blueprint of future network investment - inside and outside the ports
Port Offering Broader than just Infrastructure and Port Services
• Whole supply chain and the logistics networks – real value for our customers
and shareholders
• Work closer with transport network agencies
Evolving Our Supply Chain Role • Partnering role with government and greater collaboration
• Connecting with rail, road and marine supply chains for government
• Promoting inland rail and coastal shipping
Greater logistics Integration Offering • Investigate opportunities for more modal optionality at the port
Our Focus for 2016/17
Large Bulk Ports need efficient Heavy Haul Rail!

Coal to market…….the port end
• Blend coal – value add at the port – best grade of coal –greatest return
• Improved knowledge of supply chain planning and performance
• increase throughput
• optimising asset performance and investment
• reduce demurrage
• Management of community and environmental issues on behalf of the coal port precinct
• Improve berthing and shipping operations at berths and through channels
• Participant in Integrated Logistics Company (ILC) (currently NQBP Chair) to maximise the throughput of the supply chain equitably – key focus is supply chain velocity
• Optimising heavy rail into Abbot Point (limited space requires good thinking!)

Where we can add value to rail developments…
• Assisting with approvals
• Sharing plans
• Providing advice
• Our supply chain work
• Supporting investment
• Other??
A strong, sustainable port, well-
connected to rail and road
networks, is an asset that will
continue to provide benefits long
into the future for all
stakeholders.
