Help Steve of Herrell’s Ice Cream enjoys 40 years of excellence!
Northampton Massachusetts Steve Herrell is celebrating 40 years of making and selling artisan ice cream! Herrell’s Ice Cream invites all ice cream fans to join in the celebration this summer by buying and enjoying hand made, high quality ice cream! “It’s hard to believe that it’s been 40 years” Steve said today while reminiscing, “I feel the same excitement I did when I first started”! “All I can say is, Happy 40th year as an Ice Cream Maker and Flavor Master, Steve, and THANKS” added Judy Herrell, Steve’s business partner! “It sure has been fun”! About Steve Herrell and his Revolutionary Ice Cream History! Back in 1973, Steve Herrell had a dream: to open an ice cream store which served the highest quality, best tasting ice cream to be found anywhere. He revolutionized America’s stagnant ice cream industry when he founded the original Steve’s Ice Cream in Somerville, near Boston, Massachusetts, and thereby pioneered the renaissance of homemade, fresh, “gourmet” ice cream. By the end of the first day in business, he had gone through his entire stock of 32 gallons.
By mechanically altering a small batch commercial freezer, Steve produced an extraordinarily rich, creamy, low-‐air ice cream. He was the first person to grind Heath Bars®, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups® and other name-‐brand confections and mix them into ice cream. He introduced “Smoosh-‐ins®” to the world and thereby gave birth to our passion for flavors such as Heath Bar Crunch and Cookies ‘n’ Cream, now classics everywhere and staples in today’s ice cream industry. Just as important, he developed an unmatched talent for flavoring. Steve Herrell and his outstanding ice cream gained national attention…and a legend was born.
After selling the original Steve’s Ice Cream in 1977, Steve could not stay out of the ice cream business. In 1980, he opened Herrell’s Ice Cream in Northampton, Massachusetts with his original recipes and again gained national recognition, dazzling the ice cream industry. Herrell’s Ice Cream is still going strong today. Herrell continues innovating flavors and frozen dessert ideas, such as No Moo®, a vegan no dairy ice cream and No Sugar added ice creams for Diabetic folks, plus his ice cream and hot fudge sauces have won many awards and competitions including “Best of Boston”, “Best of the Valley” and First Place in the Hot Fudge Taste Competition at Seriouseats.com, to name only a few! The success of Herrell’s Ice Cream has resulted in many industry copycats, but the ice cream quality has never been matched. Dedicated to creativity and the pursuit of excellence, Steve Herrell’s, Herrell’s Ice Cream continues to be at the top of distinctive taste and customer loyalty.
