Australia Post – Project Analyst Intern

Position Overview
Role Description
In accordance to the Projects@Post methodology; supports and consults on the end-to-end the delivery of an IT project, or IT component or an enterprise project across the full project lifecycle - Design, Build, Test, Deployment - to meet the agreed business needs. Identifying and utilising the necessary IT resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.
Major Accountabilities
Strategy Execution and Customer
Coordinates the development, implementation and collation of information in the form of project reports and provide analysis and advice of activities for the project. This includes proactive tracking and management of RAID items identified across the project.
Ensures project analysis is provided in a customer-focused, professional manner and within agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
Proactive management of internal review meetings, as agreed with the Project Manager on cadence and purpose.
Contributes to the development, implementation and collation of information in the form of IT portfolio or project reports (e.g. Working Groups, Steering Committees, and Project Control Boards) and provide analysis and advice.
Collates and analyses relevant project status and performance statistics and provide advice to management and stakeholders on project performance issues. Ensures consistency of data and reporting.

Production and maintenance of core project documents as defined within the Projects@Post methodology, such as: Project Management Plan, Schedule, Project Health Check, Request for Proposal or Information (RFP and RFI) and RFP evaluation, Statement of Work, Work Order and Project Closure Reports.
Production under direction of the project manager in the completion of project artefacts and provide consultation of what project artefacts are required, in alignment with Projects@Post. Works to document and archive project approvals or deliverables in a central project repository (e.g. PPM Project Site) for auditability and compliance purposes.
Investigates and identifies improvement opportunities with alternative system designs for project monitoring, with support from the project team.
Maintains awareness of current Information Security standards and ensures all activities comply with the standards.
Demonstrates sufficient consideration of customer needs and customer experience targets, as driven by business requirements.
Financial (e.g. budget expenditure, revenue, lending authority, profit targets etc.)
Monitors project financials. Captures expenditure and commitment associated with the project. Assists to define the WBS breakdown and monthly cost profiles.
Proactively tracks Actuals against Forecast, ensuring ‘Estimated Actuals to Completion’ and ‘Estimated Time to Completion’ fall within allocated project financials.
Proactively tracks and contributes to the development and execution of Procurement activities, such as: review of external vendor quotes, purchase orders, invoices and monitoring of any payment milestones if applicable
Leadership and Organisation
Recommends options for improving operational efficiency and standards across the Project and Portfolio.
Acts as a business change driver to improve value, operational efficiency and productivity.
Essential Experience
Industry and Function
Has demonstrated project support functions in number of projects simultaneously, from conception to implementation and realisation of program objectives
Ability to proactively track Portfolio / Project RAID items and provide timely communications to core project team members on updates.
Relationships
Has previously provided Project Analyst capability across a multi-disciplinary program team (e.g. business, IT, project, vendors)
Role Challenges
Collaborate with a largely contractor-based workforce across Technology.

Has demonstrated knowledge of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within competitive markets as related to the context of Australia Post

Technical and Professional Qualifications/Skills Required
Relevant bachelor degree in Technology
Relevant project management certification
Budgeting and cost control techniques to maintain financial control of a project / program and inform decision making
Experience with Microsoft PPM, SharePoint, SAP preferred
