LANDSCAPEDESIGNANDCONSTRUCTIONIn order to meet the high demand in the coming years for quality skilled workers in the Landscape Design & Construction Industry, Stephen Lewis is excited to offer this unique program. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) at SLSS involves students completing a package of courses that meets the needs of all students with an interest in developing the skills necessary for a career in the Landscape Design & Construction Industry. The Landscape Design & Construction Industry acknowledges and supports the program through certification and appropriate industry placements.

In order to complete a SHSM in Landscape Design & Construction students:1. complete a package of 9 specific courses (see chart below). 2. complete Industry Certification. 3. obtain job experience (e.g. co-op work experience, job shadowing, job twinning). 4. document the industry essential skills using the Ontario Skills Passport.5. gain “Reach Ahead Experience” (e.g. through an apprenticeship program or post secondary institution).
