• By the age of 27, Stephen F. Austin decided to help his father by moving three-hundred families to settle in Texas.

• These first settlers of Texas were given the name of the, "Old Three Hundred".

to Texas (which was then known as Tejas), Stephen F. Austin helped the new colonists and the people of the Mexican Government talk to each other.

patience and diplomacy, a “thinker,” who made things happen.

• After devoting the best years of his life to the cause of Texas, Stephen F. Austin died December 27, 1836 at the age of 43.

• Each year a celebration is held at the site of his death in Brazoria County.
