step by step contents page
TRANSCRIPT
Quark is an editing program that is used by those in the industry which is why we were given the opportunity to create our contents page on the program. Firstly I needed to make the Title for the contents page. I placed the text box in the corner of the gridded page which we previously had set up so that our contents page would look professional. Once I was happy with my chosen font and size I was finished with the title. The red circles indicate what tools i used for this section.
For this section, I started making the subheadings and placed the image where I wanted it to be. I needed to use the tool with the X in the box as this is how you place an image on the page. When the box had been placed on my page I was able to right click to find the option ‘import image’ which allowed me to import the picture I wanted. I then needed to fit the image to the box by resizing it as it was too zoomed in. I then added a text box below it as a caption for the image to show what the article will be about along with the page number which is bigger than the rest of the text to make it stand out.
The two screenshots above show how I needed to change the picture as it was too zoomed in to be able to see the actual image. I needed to scale the picture to the box to allow the image to go back to its original size.
Here i added another subheading and image which i thought would look good for the magazine. I used the text tool to allow me to write what i wanted below the image. I changed the way the text looked by using the style application below which is circled in red.
Here I just repeated the same previous steps to make a new subheading for the main article of the school magazine.
In this section I added an editors letter as I believe that they are an important aspect for the magazine contents page to give an introduction to the content of the magazine. The only tool used for this part was the text tool.
Finally, I repeated the previous steps to make the middle column full with other articles that will be present in the magazine. This is important as the content page is used to show the reader what pages have what information on.
