Photoshop Brushes-Cityscape

Before starting your project you want to have 10 to 15 images to work with

Step 1Open a new Photoshop file and set its dimensions to U.S.Paper 300dpi.

Step 2You may use any of the selection tools available in Photoshop but for clean selections you may

want to stick with the pen tool.

Step 3Once you select your image copy and paste into your new document.

Step 4After you have pasted a few images into the document start to lay out the composition. Use free

transform to change size and angle.

Step 5As you add images name your layers it will make it easier to locate the active layer.

Step 6Experiment with layout, break away from linear design

Step 7Continue to add items and change layer stacking to achieve the desired look

Step 8Once you are satisfied with the collage layout it is time to bring in some color with the custom

brushes

Step 9Open a new Photoshop file (US Paper) and type in your word.

Step 10Crop in close to text.

Step 11Save as >PNG (Name file same as text)

Step 12 PNG options>None>OK

Step 13Drag the PNG file to Photoshop when you are ready fo use.

Edit>Define Brush Preset

Step 14You should see the text in the name of the .png file>press OK

Step 15You will now see your text in the brush pallet

Step 16View>Brushes. Set Brush Dynamics>Size jitter 20%>Angle jitter 25%

Step 17Set Scattering between 150-160%

Step 18Now for the brush work. The text is easier to see on a white background.

Step 19Start building layers of text, choose colors from the photographs used in the collage. Use a

different layer for each color, multiple layers will give you more control over your desired look. You do not need to name these layers.

Step 20As you build up the text, the color and texture will develop in the background.

Step 21When your background color is finishes, adjust your image layers to your liking. Levels work

well for this by sliding towards the darker tones.

Step 22Adjust levels as needed to create drama.

Step 23You do not need to fill in the entire background with color to complete your design.
