As I sit to write this article, the snow is falling once again, and we are expecting more next week. It seems that the winter of 2014 is never ending. Despite our many delays and closings, we are working hard to get back to the business of teaching and learning. Beginning March 3, MSA (Maryland School Assessments) will be administered to all third, fourth, and fifth graders.

Attendance, a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast are essential. Schedules for all of our stu-dents will be slightly altered to accommodate the testing schedules. Thanks for your support. Villa Cresta’s STEM fair is March 13 from 6-6:45 p.m. It will begin with a gallery walk in the cafeteria and end in the gym with the presentation of awards at 6:15. Message from PTA President- Jamie Vilcarino

Dear Parents/Guardians, This year is an election year for the Villa Cresta PTA!!! We need your support. Without the PTA our students will have fewer, if any, assemblies, the cost of field trips will increase and all clubs would have to fundraise for their own financial sup-port. We want to keep the PTA going with the great traditions that it has had and to make new traditions for the future. Anyone can hold one of the positions described in the newsletter. To be President you have to have held one of these positions within a 5 year period. We need fresh faces to help with the PTA and to keep it go-ing. If you have questions or are interested in a position please let me know so that I can forward your name to the nominating committee. THANK YOU to all of the volunteers that helped out during the annual Scholastic Book Fair and Ice Cream Social. Our annual PTA Membership Drive will end March 31st. This is your last chance to support your child’s school by joining the PTA. Please send in your $7.00 as soon as possible with the form enclosed attn: Jamie Vilcarino. 4th grade news: The Annual Camp Fund committee would like to thank those par-ents of 4th graders who responded to our survey regarding the spring fundraising. Positions available for the 2014-2015 PTA Executive Board (1 yr terms)

1st Vice President Would act as president in the absence or inability of that officer Room parent coordinator

2nd Vice President Would act as president in the absence or inability of that officer Is the delegate to the Baltimore County PTA Counsel

Recording Secretary Record the minutes of all meetings of the association and of the board of

directors Hold a current copy of the bylaws Maintain a current membership list (see committee chairperson)

Corresponding Secretary Conduct the correspondence of the association Send out notices of board of directors meetings and other meetings Send to the state PTA office the names and addresses of the newly

elected officers and those officers serving a second term.

Treasurer Have custody of all funds of this local PTA Keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures including

reconciliation of the bank statement each month Make disbursements as authorized by the president, or board of direc-

tors of this local PTA in accordance with the budget adopted by this PTA

Present a written financial statement at every meeting (spreadsheet comes with the position)

Make a full report before the newly elected officers officially assume their duties

Be responsible for the maintenance of such books of account and records as to conform to the requirements of the bylaws

Be responsible for preparing and filing all necessary tax forms and sub-mitting a copy to the MD PTA office w/in 30 days of filing (can be done by MD PTA or public accountant if necessary)

Have the accounts examined at the close of the fiscal year and upon change of treasurer by an auditor or an auditing committee
