We focus on surface and interface phenomena and their exploitation in the development of innovative materials and structures. The INM is a scientific partner to national and international research institutions and a provider of research and development for companies throughout the world. The INM has about 250 employees and is an institute of the Leibniz Association. The program division Functional Microstructures investigates and develops as a core topic micropatterned surfaces for innovative application in robotics, production and medicine. We aim to complement our team working on topical interdisciplinary solutions, especially within the framework of a new Proof-of-Concept Grant awarded by the European Research Council. For this purpose, we are seeking Doctoral students – Postdoctoral Researchers – Technical Staff (topic: gecko structures) Your application will be considered if you have a high-quality degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering or biology and are interested, i.a., in the following topics: Design of novel micropatterned polymer surface for industrial and haptic applications Biomedical adhesive surfaces for clinical application Development and integration of new sensor concepts Modeling and simulation of contact phenomena and micropatterning processes The successful candidates will become members of an active research group with a strong international network. INM offers an excellent research infrastructure for fundamental and industrial work. Affinity to interdisciplinary cooperation and willingness to travel internationally are expected from the candidates. Salary and working hours are in accordance with the German state public service salary scale (TV-L) and the accordant social benefits.
