Stefan & Letitia Bergen’s Newsletter pg.1 Newsletter #10 September 2018 Shalom again from Jerusalem! Six weeks have already flown by since we flew back to Israel from our visit to Canada. It was so so refreshing to reconnect with many of you who are faithfully praying for us and generously supporting us in the work that the LORD has called us to here in Jerusalem. We were richly blessed by your warm hospitality. We were deeply encouraged by the words that you spoke over our lives and ministry. Through you the LORD has given us a new joy and anticipation for what He will do in and through us. We love you all, and thank you again for the love that you have shown to our family. Canada Visit Thank you to those who were able to be at the King Road MB Church service when Stefan preached. He was blessed by the word that the LORD gave him to share, and overwhelmed by the positive responses and feedback he received. We were also overwhelmed by the encouragement we received from the King Road Missions Committee that met with us for lunch and a time of sharing. Protective Miracle We could go on for pages mentioning everyone that we were blessed by during our visit to Canada. But there is one meeting that we feel needs mentioning here. During the last week of our visit we had a chance to meet with the Isaak’s for lunch. When we arrived at their home we were immediately ushered by Anni into the backyard garden where Hartmut was waiting for us. At first glance nothing appeared unusual. But as we entered deeper into the garden we were shocked by what we saw. King Road Missions Committee The neighbour’s home was completely burned and all that was left was a charred shell. The towering evergreens surrounding the home were burned to their tips. Everything was black until the Isaak’s fence. The ivy growing on the neighbour’s side of the fence was completely chared, but the ivy growing on the Isaak’s side of the fence was untouched. It was difficult to take in. We just stood there staring and staring again, the miracle slowly sinking in. It felt like we were standing on holy ground, and it was hard not to burst into tears at the goodness of God’s gracious protection over his saints. Hartmut explained that the fire had broken out at the neighbour’s home a couple days before. It was in the afternoon, Anni was away, and Anni’s mother was asleep upstairs. Hartmut had decided to quickly run some errands, and as he was backing out of the driveway someone stopped him and pointed out to him the rising smoke from behind his home. Without a second thought Hartmut began to pray that the fire would not touch his property. The LORD answered that prayer and spared the life of Anni’s mother. The firefighters arrived just in time to put out the flames that were quickly spreading.

The neighbour’s home was completely burned and all that was left was a charred shell. The towering evergreens surrounding the home were burned to their tips. Everything was black until the Isaak’s fence. The ivy growing on the neighbour’s side of the fence was completely chared, but the ivy growing on the Isaak’s side of the fence was untouched. • Pray for our immune systems and health to be strong as we aproach the change of seasons

• Wisdom as we try to establish a routine for Ethan now that our traveling is over and we are more settled in our home

• Wisdom and discernment from the LORD as Stefan steps into this new role

• Protection as we go about our day to day lives, and for Ethan as he explores, climbs and gets more confident in walking

But only two days after we arrived back in Jerusalem we had Letitia’s younger sister Christin and her boyfriend Hamiora come for a quick visit. While still in a jetlagged state we did our best to take them around our beloved land of Israel. We were again blessed to watch the Bible stories come to life for them as we explored the sites were they took place thousands of years ago.

AccountingStefan continues to pour himself into the work of the LORD at Bridges for Peace. Two weeks ago Stefan was invited to join the senior leadership team of the ministry. This means that Stefan will now be involved in staffing and steering the ministry of Bridges for Peace in Israel and around the world. Please pray for wisdom and discernment from the LORD as Stefan steps into this new role.

Farewells & HellosWhen we arrived in Canada Ethan still felt like a baby, but when we left we left with a toddler. The nice and soft flooring in Canada gave Ethan the confidence to find his feet after becoming shy of the concrete and tile floors in Israel. There were many precious hours of playing and exploring with Oma and Opa. It was hard for us to leave.
