Many of the volunteers that work in the gardens and the community kitchens are users of the centres’ services. Poverty is the reason why so many families, the unemployed and the working poor need to use food banks. Community Food Centres are providing this essential service in a dignified and communal manner. Your Contribution Builds a Better World Consecutive droughts, torrential rains and severe storms have stricken Guatemala over the past few years. Poor peasant and indigenous communities have been hit the hardest, causing the loss of their livelihoods and homes. The Steelworkers Humanity Fund contributed $10,000 to assist in relief efforts carried out by its partner organization in Guatemala Nuevo Amanecer Health and Community Development Organization.
