INTRODUCTION

Stealth Technology aims at minimizing transmitted and reflected energies- heat, light, sound, electric potentials etc - to deny an opponent to locate, track, identify and attack its target.

Stealth technology is also referred as “VLO” i.e. “VERY LOW OBSERVABLE TECHNOLOGY.”

Fighter planes are made so they are harder to be detected by the radar and other electronic tracking …… devices.

RADAR SYSTEM

The radar antenna sends out a burst of radio energy, which is then reflected back by any object it happens to encounter.

The radar antenna measures the time it takes for the reflection to arrive, and with that information it can tell how far away the object is.

WORKING OF STEALTH TECH.

The goal of stealth technology is to make an airplane invisible to radar.

There are two different ways to create invisibility :

1. The airplane can be shaped so that any radar signals it reflects are reflected away from the radar equipment.

2. The airplane can be covered in materials that absorb radar signals.

Stealth aircraft has to be stealthy in six disciplines: RADAR CROSS SECTIONINFRAREDVISUALACOUSTICSignature: - Any unique indicator of the presence of certain object or troops; especially the characteristic electronic emissions given off by them i.e. any activity or radiation or the characteristic of the body that helps to revile its at a ………………… presence particular point and time.

LIMITATIONS

Making a plane stealthy requires compromising other aspects of the plane.

Instability of designAerodynamic limitationsReduced payloadCost of production &

CONCLUSION

The Detection and Stealth Technology has improved significantly in the last fifty years or so. This trend is likely to continue as these two oppose each other.

It is hard and expensive to manufacture and maintain a stealth vehicle, but it may be easy to hit critical targets and gain Military Dominancy by using stealth vehicles. So, a balanced investment should be considered for stealth vehicles

Its an arm race except it isn’t between specific ……… countries “Its a fight between Technologies.”
