Sample a variety of evidence-based self-care, centering, and wellness practices. Learn brief, adaptable and effective self-care tools that fit into your free moments and explore ways to integrate them into your daily activities. Care for yourself while enhancing your creativity and workflow. Increase your resilience and decrease burnout risks at work and in your personal life. Handouts with instructions, references, and current research will be included. Highlight the connections between self-care and ethical therapeutic practice. The Self-Care Lab: Exploring the Ethics & Applications of Self-Care Begin to unpack cultural narratives of self- neglect to build a new story of self-care. Recognize some of the ethical consequences of not practicing self-care. Explore the potential barriers to self-care and learn strategies to get beyond these barriers. Review what the various mental health professional codes of ethics say on self-care, and what they don’t, which could also be important. Learn about which practices have been most useful with clients and patients. Learn to apply self-care practices specifically adapted for busy lifestyles. Everyone will have a chance to shape the practices. Ongoing email practice support will be available to all attendees. Presented by Lafe Coppola, M.A., MFT Lafe is a co-founder of the Self-Pay Clinic at Warren Street Family Counseling Associates. A certified Energy Arts Instructor, he has been practicing Qigong, mindfulness, and meditation for over 25 years and teaching them for over 15 years. Lafe is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in narrative and collaborative approaches to self-care for helping professionals.
