Application Overview

The Radata Systems iPhone Application is designed to make using Telic STD32’s and STD35’s easier. Our app allows you to forget about remembering IMIE numbers, phone numbers and special operating commands and command syntax. You don't need to remember what input or output does what any longer. The App does all this by by simplifying the device selection process and allowing you to assign your own label to each command. The Radata Systems STD Controller App allows you to control up to five STD32’s and five STD35’s. You can store different labels for each of your devices and each device can be named whatever suits you. A built in Help facility makes use of the App easy if you do not have this document with you..

How It WorksThe application stores all the device data and your labels in a custom database “inside” the application. When you open the application you will get several options described below. The App automatically translates your label into the right command to send to the selected device.

On the first screen you will see some help text at the top and then four blue menu names.

Add allows you to add new devices. ! You need to enter the device IMEI Number! Then enter the device SIM Number! And you can enter your own name for this device

Edit allows you to change the above settings if you need to change anything. For example, the name of the device. You can also delete devices from the Edit window.

Call will establish a call to the device operating Relay One as per the Telic instruction manual. Note this only applies if the phone the app is loaded on is a “Master” set during the STD setup.

Next takes you to the Labels window where you can edit the standard commands to show whatever you prefer.

At the bottom you will see a scroll selector showing the devices you have added already. This area is empty until you add at least one device.

The amount you see will depend whether you are holding the phone for Portrait or Landscape view.

On the Add screen you will see some help text in the lower half of the screen and the entry area at the top which allows you to enter information about new devices.

As the help area explains you first select the kind of device, STD32 or STD35. Just touch one or the other as appropriate. In the accompanying picture STD32 is selected.

Next you need to enter the last four digits of the STD IMEI number. You will find that information on the sticker on the bottom of the STD, This is entered into the entry box for this just to the right of the 4 Digit IMEI Number text.

Similarly enter the SIM Number in the SIM entry box. The SIM Number is the phone number of the SIM card installed in the device. The number will have been shown on the packaging of the sim card.

Then enter the name that you want to use for this device in the entry box below the Device Name text.

All the normal select, paste, copy options appear if you keep touching these entry boxes. When you are all done Save the device information using Save in the top right corner.

On the Edit screen you will see some help text in the lower half of the screen and an entry area at the top which displays the data you already saved for this device devices. Note, you must choose the device you want to edit from the device scroll wheel (first screen) before going to the Edit screen. The label at the top shows what device you are editing. In this example Scat STD35 Test Unit is being edited.

You can edit your previous data or change the device type using this screen. To change device type simply select the other type. Any previously saved labels will be retained. Excess labels will disappear. When you are finished save the new device information using Save in the top right corner.

You can Delete the selected device totally using the red Delete This Device text near the bottom of the screen. The amount you see will depend whether you are holding the phone for Portrait or Landscape view.

You can use ‹❮ Back at any time to return to the main screen.

To use the Free Call method of operating Relay One Output simply select the device required from the scroll wheel and select Call. You will then be given the option to call or cancel. You can see the number that will be called as a check only. In the background you can also see the device you selected to call. In this example Scat STD35 Test Unit will be called. The STD unit will hang up the call

Cancel takes you back to the main screen.

When you select any previously created device then the Next menu you will be taken to the Command Labels screen. This screen will show the appropriate commands for the type of device and you can edit all but Status and Photo to any text that is more meaningful to you. Don’t worry, when an SMS is sent to your device it will still be the correct command. For example you could edit O1ON to say “Turn lights on in the garage”. Assuming your device is wired up appropriately that is what will happen. No need to remember IMEI numbers or SIM numbers or command syntax any more, the STD Controller App will do all that for you.

Press Edit to change the default text and then save it with Done. Repeat for all the command labels you want to change.. Note, for STFD35 you need to scroll the screen down to see Status and Photo. These cannot be edited. The amount you see will depend whether you are holding the phone for Portrait or Landscape view.

There is a help screen which you will be taken too by selecting the green Help in bottom right corner. This also provides the link to this Users Manual on our web site. The URL will automatically open Safari Browser and take you to our help page.

The STD32 Command Labels screen shows only the 6 commands relevant to an STD32.

The picture at right shows the STD35 Command Labels screen in the process of editing. Note the Text being edited shows a Done button ready to end the editing process and save that text. When you select Done the keyboard is tidied away.

In the above example it shows two commands selected and the SMS message that is then formatted and entered into Messages ready to send when you press Send in the top right corner. See how easy it is.... you have selected Labels that are meaningful to you but the App will send the commands that the STD32 requires to carry out those actions. Just press Send again and it’s done.
