frozen, stacked in the basement or on shelves.

• Food with high moisture content does not dry out, crunchy food does not soak and dry food does not harden (e.g. brown sugar), because air cannot affect it.

ECONOMICAL USAGE.• Due to longer shelf-life of food,

we produce less waste from perishable foods and we do less shopping as we buy larger food packages that are less expensive.

In 2003 we purchased a prototype production machine from the Stratasys company which cost us 80,000 former Deutschmarks. The machine had a meaningful name Prodigy Plus and worked wonders for our business. According to the manufacturer we were among its fi rst buyers in Europe. Today these machines are called 3D printers and can be bought from a few hundred euros onwards.

All members of the Status team agree that our favourite project was developing the V-Shape Slicer. When we were testing the sharpness of its blade, the quantities of salami increased dramatically during lunch breaks.

In all these years we produced more than 19 000 plans for new products and 687 of these were prototypes. Only the best ideas passed the selection process, but nevertheless we are proud of all of them. Every year Saint Nicholas visits Status headquarters and brings us fruit, chocolate and various treats. The day of his visit is our favourite working day of the year. If our colleagues from the development department would be transferred to the sales department, our popular garlic cutter would be technically described as a small hand press with a cross knife and self-cleaner. Among employees in Status there are as many as 18 % who have worked in the company for more than 15 years and 38% who are younger than 35 years. We are frequently contacted by innovators with new ideas. Some of them presented a cutting board which calculates calories consumed, appliance which cuts off the top of the egg shell, automatic device for applying lipstick and motivational bracelet. These innovative business ideas haven’t proved successful so far.

Our statements are proven facts! At different fairs we give presentations on how tightly vacuum containers are closed by the vacuum sealing process. Once we vacuum packed a container with a mobile phone inside and dipped both into water. The mobile phone still works today.
