Missouri’s Blueprint forSafer Roadways
Missouri’s Crash Data Missouri State Highway Patrol
(MSHP) is the repository for crash records
In 2002 MSHP and MoDOT merged their crash data systems
Key Principles of the Blueprint Statewide Reduction Goal – Less than
1000 fatalities by 2008 Targeted fatalities and severe injuries Targeted both state and local roads Used extensive data analysis to
identify key crash reduction emphasis areas

Crash Analysis Since MoDOT and MSHP have one
common database, able to query any data field that is captured on the crash report
Statewide analysis modeled after the emphasis areas identified in AASHTO’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan
