Promote an Affordable, Renewable, and Diverse Energy Supply• Increase percentage of renewable fuels sold as motor fuels in
Wisconsin, currently 3.5%• Reduce spending on electricity, currently $5.7 billion a year • Rely less on purchasing fuel for electricity from other states.• Increase economic activity and percentage of renewable fuels
used to generate electricity and, currently around 5%, generating $184 million a year for the economy.
• Producing 25 percent of the state’s electricity from renewable sources in Wisconsin would generate nearly $1 billion for the Wisconsin economy.

dramatically lower costs and Wisconsin’s impact on the environment.
• Wisconsin has several initiatives to provide resources for residents and businesses to become more energy efficient through weatherization and other cost-effective technologies.

State Energy Efficiency Program - Focus on Energy• Wisconsin utilities contribute1.25 percent of their annual
operating revenue for efficiency and renewable energy programs.
• Generates $94 million of revenue over 18 months for investment in energy efficiency projects
• In 2006, Focus on Energy helped over 12,800 Wisconsin businesses reduce their energy consumption and generate over $22.6 million in annual energy savings.

• Working to develop new low-carbon liquid fuels from biochemicals.
• Improve the efficiency of ethanol and biodiesel production.

Research, Development and Manufacturing:• Producing highly energy-efficient thermal management
systems and components used in light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) equipment, industrial equipment, refrigeration systems, fuel cells and electronics.
• Manufacturing high intensity fluorescent lighting systems that drastically reduce electricity consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

• Provide American National Standards Institute (ANSI) pilots at Wisconsin industrial facilities,

State Energy Program - Clean Energy Loan Program • $55 million • Focused on manufacturing
Low interest (2%) loans to businesses that promote:• Major renewable energy production projects,• Manufacturing of clean energy products,• Advanced manufacturing of clean energy components,• Retooling to provide component parts and other critical
needs for a successful totally integrated supply chain, and • Improve industrial users’ competitiveness though energy
efficiency and renewable energy deployment

State Energy Program - Clean Energy Loan Program Application Guidelines:• For profit manufacturing businesses • First come, first served• Contact your Area Development Managers (Commerce)• Submit an initial application –
- Loan for 25% of project costs, Some grants- Jobs, energy saved, energy produced, value of the
project- Special consideration for projects with necessary
financing, permits and ability to implement• Commerce/OEI will review and invite back for a full
proposal

• Goal is to accelerate the installation of industrial energy efficiency projects
• Combination of Loan and Focus Incentives
• Complete an energy efficiency project with essentially no money down and get a year of energy savings before having to make a payment

Program Criteria• Eligibility: Energy efficiency projects at WI industrial facilities • Loan Term: 12 months to 18 months• Interest Rate: 0%• Minimum Principal: $100,00• Maximum Principal: Up to 70% of total project cost• Payments: One balloon payment at end of loan term, no
extensions• Available funds $10-12 million • Program funds will be allocated based on those first to fully
complete applications. Companies are encouraged to bundle two or more eligible projects and/or projects located at multiple sites into one loan application.
