SUBJECT: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ordering for Individual Providers (IPs) and Adult Family Homes (AFHs)

PURPOSE: 1. To clarify the purpose and use of cloth face coverings

2. To inform HCS, AAA and DDA staff of the process for ordering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for use by IPs and AFH staff

BACKGROUND: DSHS distributed cloth face coverings in May 2020. Cloth face coverings are not PPE, but are an important strategy when used correctly to prevent spread of infection. Instructions for the use and care of cloth face coverings is included in the attachment section below.

DSHS has made a one-time purchase of PPE and will also be distributing PPE to IPs and AFHs.

WHAT’S NEW, CHANGED, OR CLARIFIED:

Beginning in late June, ALTSA and DDA will fulfill PPE orders. Orders will be fulfilled with sufficient PPE for 31 days of care delivery. The specific PPE items in the order will be determined through the screening process. After the first full month of distribution we will assess whether additional requests for PPE kits can be requested.

ALTSA will provide training for staff designated as points of contact for a one time request of PPE by IPs and AFHs. Designated staff will screen requests by IPs and AFHs to determine what type of PPE kit will be supplied. Differences in PPE kits are based on client CoVid status. Designated staff will place orders on behalf of IPs and AFHs. The designated points of contact are listed in the Excel document below. Similar information as is listed below will be collected to determine the supply of PPE.
