STEINAGEL Division Director Subject: UPDATED: Temporary Suspension of "Live" Requirements for Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) Continuing Education (CE) To Whom it may concern: With the increasing public awareness of COVID-19, DOPL team members have received a number of questions regarding continuing education requirements for licensed professionals. Specifically, individuals are concerned about " li ve" elements of CE requirements, such as a mandate that all or a portion of CE hours be achieved by personal attendance at a seminar. In order to support Utah's efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, I approve the temporary waiver of "live" CE requirements for those with DOPL license expiration dates between now and October 1, 2020. In other words, online CE may be accrued instead of live CE for purposes of license renewal consideration for a renewal date occurring before October 1, 2020. This waiver is permissive. Those who currently have live CE scheduled are free to participate in it, though DOPL encourages licensees and providers of CE to adhere to social distancing recommendations found at coronavirus.utah.gov or cdc.gov/coronavirus. Hopefully this action, among the thousands undertaken recently by public and private entities across the state will decrease the prevalence of community COVID-19 spread. Thank you for your cooperation, as well as your dedicated service to the citizens of Utah. Sincerely, Mark Steinagel Director www. dopl.utah.gov Heber M. Wells Building• 160 East 300 South• P.O. Subject: UPDATED: Temporary Suspension of "Live" Requirements for Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) Continuing Education (CE)

To Whom it may concern:

With the increasing public awareness of COVID-19, DOPL team members have received a number of questions regarding continuing education requirements for licensed professionals. Specifically, individuals are concerned about "live" elements of CE requirements, such as a mandate that all or a portion of CE hours be achieved by personal attendance at a seminar.

In order to support Utah' s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, I approve the temporary waiver of "live" CE requirements for those with DOPL license expiration dates between now and October 1, 2020.

Sincerely,

~ Mark Steinagel Director
