Contract Control Towers If Airport is Not a Reliever, Why is This Important?
Air transportation in the United States is not limited by
geographical boundaries. It is a national system. The safe and efficient movement of aircraft within this system has always been and should remain a federal responsibility. Contract Towers provide an important and necessary role in the national air transportation system. These towers should continue to be supported by the federal government

Contract Control Towers Recent Development: May 10, 2013 “Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today that DOT has
determined that the recently enacted Reducing Flight Delays Act of 2013 will allow the FAA to transfer sufficient funds to end employee furloughs and keep the 149 low activity contract towers originally slated for closure in June open for the remainder of fiscal year 2013.”
