About the Seminar

The main objective of the seminar is to provide a

platform to unite students, research scholars and

experts from various fields of biological sciences.

This forum emphasizes major ongoing develop-

ments generated through evidence based

research and the major outcomes focusing on

development of therapies that target tumors.

Major Thematic Areas

Guidelines for Paper Presentation

Paper presentation from PG students and Research Scholars are invited on any of the themes. The abstract should be 250 – 300 words

with 4-5 keywords in italics The name of the author(s) , institutional

affiliations should be along with the title, contact no., email and postal address should be clearly mentioned at the end

Soft copy should be in Times New Roman,

Font 12, with 1.5 line spacing Abstracts in the prescribed format should

be mailed to [email protected] on or before January 30th,2020.

About the College

Loyola College , Chennai, is a Jesuit institution estab-

lished in 1925. NAAC’s reaccreditation score in 2012 (Third

About the Department

Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology had its

glorious beginning in the year 1950 by Rev. Fr. Rapinnat

S.J. Since its inception, the Department has been growing

and expanding its horizon during the last 68 years. The

Department offers B.Sc. in Plant Biology and Plant Bio-

technology, M.Sc. in Biotechnology and M.Phil. & Ph.D. in

Plant Biology and Biotechnology.

M.Sc., Biotechnology was started in 1999, and prepares

students to pursue advanced degrees in Biosciences. The

curricula encompasses a variety of areas such as Devel-

opmental Biology, Genetic Engineering, Fermentation

Technology, Human Genetics, Cancer Biology, Nanotech-

nology and Bioinformatics. The Department possesses

well-equipped labs, qualified and dedicated faculty. The

Syllabus has been framed to maintain interest in learning

and provide confidence to face competitive exams. The

prime objective of the program being to prepare post

graduate students for challenging careers in Biotechnol-

ogy and enable upward mobility for higher studies and

research in Biological Sciences.
