Throughout the last decade, the flight market has experienced profound worldwide changes. The increase of low-fare airlines, coupled with the need to adapt the role of airports to the changing socio-economic context, have pushed both airlines and airport managers to change their financial and industrial resource management.To better follow the evolution of these changes, and
discontinuities from increased sales volumes, there is an increasing need for managers to control both strategic alignment and operational information. The success of this control, however, is often hindered by a daily influx of information, which must be promptly, yet appropriately, standardized and simplified before it can be adequately interpreted.
BACKGROUND
SKKIP proposes a “control dashboard”, an analytical platform that implements managerial experience while incorporating business model-knowledge on a Business Intelligence Market platform.This platform – which is accessible online to all operators and airport management – proposes “views” (KPI aggregations) that comply with the specific information requirements, and allow for detailed surveys to be conducted on the identified assets (drill down).The control dashboard is designed according to a pyramid structure in order to ensure that the availability of the
individual information requirements, the decision-making objectives and prerogatives all cohere with one another. The operational information of the individual activities is then collected and re-elaborated as synthetized performance data.The analytics allow us to identify correlations between the data, analyze historical series, determine seasonal trends and behaviors, simulate economic scenarios, segment and classify customers, and calculate indices, scores and ranks.
APPROACH
This system allows the user – regardless of information requirements – to carry out a strategic monitoring of its designated areas of responsibility. In addition, the user is guided to identify any alerts (and the owners of the processes in question) that may occur.
The company dashboard also allows for an immediate benchmark by the user with the “best in class” data (at least for the most significant indicators) and / or with the company’s “nice to have” data (typically the budget).
In addition to strategic alignment analysis, the introduction of a structured, formalized and shared performance evaluation system also leads to indirect systemic advantages: the clarification and formalization of the assessment methods, accountability and transparency of activities, and the sharing of accounting data and metrics.
