OUR NEW SPORTS BUILDINGPart of an ongoing £100 million estates development plan transforming our East Park Terrace campus, the new sports building, opening in Summer 2019, will support and enable excellence in sport, health and fitness-related degree programmes and associated teaching and research.

Our new sports building will feature:• Two sports halls (including performance, events and multi-

purpose facilities)• Two fitness studios and a spin studio• A general purpose gym• A strength and conditioning high-performance gym• Health and fitness, and personal training teaching gyms• A sports and exercise therapy clinical space

ACCOMMODATIONOur student residences are all within a 10–15 minute walk of the city and the main campus, and have access-only entry. All of our student residences come fully furnished and have shared self-catering facilities. You can also save space in your suitcase by arranging a bedding pack with our accommodation service in advance.

FEES, FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND SCHOLARSHIPSTuition fees vary by course, but as a guideline, for the year 2019/20 tuition fee costs for undergraduate programmes are £9,250 per academic year for UK/EU students.

Full-time postgraduate fees for UK/EU students for the 2019/20 academic year are:

MA: £7,160MSc: £8,220MBA: £10,300Full-time postgraduate research: £4,600

We have a variety of scholarship schemes available. These consider your academic grades or sporting success.

ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS Worth between £500 and £1,000, scholarships reward UK applicants who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability in their final school or college exam results. We also offer a scholarship to full-time overseas, EEA and EU students who exceed the entry criteria for their course.

TUITION FEE LOANS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDYEligible students from England and the EU can apply for a loan to cover tuition fees. If you are from England, this loan doesn’t depend on your household income and is paid direct to the University on your behalf.

FUNDING POSTGRADUATE STUDYStudents are able to apply for a postgraduate loan from the UK government. Eligible postgraduate students can borrow up to £10,609 towards any costs (such as accommodation or tuition fees) associated with their postgraduate study.

Solent University alumni could be eligible for either a 50% or 20% reduction in the price of their tuition fees. Discounts are offered to those who have studied at Solent before, staff, and to students who are related to a member of staff.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOUNDATION ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou don’t have the academic qualifications (A-levels, BTECs) or grades you had hoped for? Our foundation programmes are designed for you with a more accessible entry requirement of 48 UCAS tariff points.

For EU students, the normal IELTS grade required to demonstrate competence for our foundation programmes is 5.5 overall with 5.0 in each language skill component or equivalent. Internal English language assessment available.

UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Your UCAS points can come from a variety of recognised qualifications, such as: A-levels or equivalent high school leaving examinations. For EU students, the normal IELTS grade (or equivalent) for undergraduate courses is 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking). Internal English language assessment available.

POSTGRADUATE ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS The normal minimum entry requirements for a master’s degree course are typically the equivalent of a British bachelor’s degree.

For EU students, the normal IELTS grade (or equivalent) for postgraduate courses is 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking). Internal English language assessment available.
