So many "newbie" internet marketers struggle with the logistics of designing

their first sites. Learning to code tables, CSS, Adsense, affiliate code

positioning and the associated heavy lifting learning curve in executing all of

It usually takes 24-48 hours for a domain to fully replicate changes, additions

or deletions across all name servers. For you to see the effects, however, all

depends on your ISP and physical location. Updates my be within minutes

for your neighbor, but may take up to a week for you or vice-versa.

Individual affiliate deals with different companies which may or may not be

listed with the major networks above. Your independent affiliate deals will be

some of your most lucrative since you can sometimes work out separate

private commission rates and bonuses. Aim for residual income here. Don't

ignore this aspect of affiliate marketing as it will pay the highest dividends.

Keep in mind, all the above affiliate networks are iddlemen,

they come between you and the merchant you're promoting. For affiliates

with a proven track record, who have shown they can deliver the customers

and sales, a private deal cutting out the middleman/fees can prove very

beneficial for both parties. If you're fortunate enough to become known as a

Keywords research

What is Keyword Research and Why is it Important?

Keyword research is basically just a way of determining all the possible

keywords that you could target to get people to your website.

By using tools such as Google's Free Keyword Tools you can get a feel for

how competitive a keyword is, you can also find out approximately how

many people a month are searching for the keywords you want to target.

(according to Google)

The reason you want to research your keywords is that on one hand if you

are targeting a set of keywords that are highly competitive it may take you

many months or even years to get on the 1st page of Google and on the

other hand if you are targeting keywords that nobody is ever using then you

may be at the top of Google but you might not get any traffic anyway.

So, there is a balance that needs to be struck.

When I start out on a SEO / SEM campaign I would target a range of

keywords, some that are highly competitive and some less competitive.

Once the less competitive keywords are producing 1st page Google

results I would then turn my full attention to optimizing the more

competitive keywords.

One great way to roughly determine the scale of a task is to analyse

a few websites that are already on the 1st page of Google for

your particular keywords.

What I would do is go onto Google and search for my target keywords I

would then make a list of the webpage that come up on the first page of

Google and I would first look at those pages to see how relevant they are for

the keywords I originally searched for, looking at things like

Page Titles, Page Content etc.

What I would then do is go onto Yahoo Site Explorer, you can find that by

just searching Google for Yahoo Site Explorer and I would enter the exact

page address of each of the websites listed on the 1st page of Google, this

will tell me how many incoming links each of the pages in question have.

It will also tell me how many pages are associated with that web

page or website.

This is not an exact science because you have to bear in mind the quality

size and quality associated with the web page in question and you

also have to bear in mind the quality of the web pages that link to the web

pages in question.

But, what I am getting at is, if you want to get on the 1st page of Google for a

particular keyword and web pages listed on the 1st page of Google have an

average of 2000 incoming links each then you have quite a task on your

hands.

However, if the web pages listed on the 1st page of Google have an average

of 50 incoming links each then you have a much easier task of getting listed

on the 1st page of Google for your chosen keywords.

How to Choose a Niche Market ?

The first and most crucial step you need to take is to select a product to

promote, choose your niche if you will. Sounds easy huh? well think again,

you wade your way through the products promoted on Clickbank and are

dazzled by those with high gravity and the promise of high returns!. in a

frenzy you whip together a word press blog and then head over to

AdWords or Yahoo to drive some people eager to part with

their money to your Blog.

What happens next can be discouraging. One of a few things may have

happened. Your campaigns are costing you a fortune per click,

congratulations, you have picked a niche which is highly competitive, the

keywords you are targeting are also being targeted by thousands (if not

more) other marketers driving the cost per click of said keyword sky high.

Perhaps you don't have this problem but you have no traffic! this scenario is

most often due to choosing a niche market that has a low 'want" factor,

namely not many people are looking to purchase the product you are

pushing.

Steps you need to take once you have selected your Niche market:

over which niche market to select.

Possibly the most simple way to do this is to look at Google hot trends to see

what people are searching for. Another simple niche finding tool is typing

words such as "How to", "where can I buy" etc into Google and spend some

time investigating.

I would recommend you spend a minimum of 4 - 8 hours researching your

niche and finding desirable keywords before deciding to promote it.
