when a passion and a career come together.
When considering a new career, the most difficult part is finding information that helps you feel confident the profession will be right for you. Practically, you want to earn a good income. Emotionally, you want to feel fulfilled in your career AND enjoy your life beyond work.
We have more than 40 years of experience helping people like you begin and continue successful careers in real estate. We have drawn on this experience to help you make this choice with confidence.
Choosing with confidence
What’s a real estate career like and who succeeds?
There is no traditional workweek in this career. Real estate careers are inherently flexible, which is especially appealing to individuals with families and strong interests beyond work. You’ll enjoy this career if you’re looking for work-life balance and flexibility between 9-5.
Real estate agents wear a lot of hats. They are busy marketing themselves to get new customers, analyzing markets and property values, recommending enhancements to improve property values, showing homes and negotiating sales. And that’s not all. You’ll prosper if you love variety in your days.
DiverseFlexible
Real estate agents get to know individuals and families and help them find their dream homes. Seeing these dreams fulfilled is incredibly satisfying and is often reported as the best part of the job.If you love helping people, you’ll love this career.
People-oriented
Real estate is commission-based allowing for unlimited earning potential. The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it. If you like being in control of your destiny, this is the job for you.
Real estate agents essentially run their own businesses. They have the freedom to make decisions that affect their business in both the long- and short- term. They decide what they’ll do and when they’ll do it. If you’re entrepreneurial and self-motivated, you’ll succeed.
Lucrative Independent
The real estate market fluctuates, every new property has its own unique pros and cons and each new customer brings distinct preferences and financial considerations. You’ll thrive if you love tackling new challenges.
DynamicBecoming an expert in the community your customers are interested in, knowing just who to use for a home improvement project and connecting buyers to businesses and other community members make real estate agents valuable. You’ll advance if you love networking.

by state law. Brokers can choose to continue to work for another broker
as an associate broker, become a real estate office branch manager, start their own brokerage and hire
other agents.

The annual income for a real estate agent is much higher than the average for all workers. And don’t forget, real estate agents are commission-based professionals, which means earning potential is unlimited. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Earnings typically increase with the number of hours worked per week and the number of years in the profession.
