HOW ENDOSAN WORKS - A CLOSER LOOK
In catalase producing bacterium the presence of EndoSan inhibits the defence mechanism, allowing the powerful free hydroxyl radicals to attack the cell membrane.
A typical bacterium naturally emits a negative charge. EndoSan is attracted by this charge to the site.
These free hydroxyl radicals penetrate the membrane and destroy the bacterium. Once killed the bacterium no longer emits a negative charge.
EndoSan is now attracted to the next bacteria site emitting a negative charge. Silver ions re-stabilise with excess hydrogen peroxide molecules to repeat the process.

EndoSan boasts a variety of delivery methods for all areas of disinfection. Our dedicated team of technicians ensure the most efficient method of application is used, depending on the industry or userpreference, assuring best practice in health & safety compliance.
There are four delivery methods that can be used to maximise EndoSan efficacy:
Delivery Methods
Constant Dosing
Dosing pumps are a simple yet reliable means to ensure a regulated amountof chemical is dosed into any system. We offer a full certified range of dosingequipment for all areas of industry.
The complete dosing solutions are ready to use and can be implementedwithout heavy installation costs. Our ‘Smart dosing’ technology willautomatically adjust and record chemical dosage to the correct levels. Usingthe right measuring and control technology, can help to lower costs byoptimising metering of fluid chemical.
Fogging
Spraying a fine disinfection mist/fog into any closed area is a well recognisedand effective method to ensure total coverage of surfaces and treatment ofairborne bacteria. The size of the droplets are small and when applied in thecorrect proportion (to avoid 100% humidity) reaches all exposed surfacesevenly and precisely.
A range of fogging devices are offered to suit various applications and wealso provide ‘Instructions For Use’ tailored to customers’ existing solutions.
Surface Disinfection
As a leave in place disinfectant, EndoSan has numerous advantages overtraditional disinfectants. Downtime is dramatically reduced and less chemicalis needed to disinfect surfaces.
For surface disinfection, EndoSan can be applied using standard spray delivery methods for application on walls, floors or equipment.
Manual Dosing
Adding EndoSan manually is a simple and inexpensive way to disinfect without purchasing dosing equipment.
Full advice and support is available to ensure the correct dose rate is calculated for any given application.
EndoSan is available in a variety of concentrations in 500ml, 1L, 5L, 10L, 20L and 100L IBCs.

Fourth Edition
EndoSan is a highly effective water treatment solutionwhich is a truly credible alternative to traditional chlorinedisinfection methods. It will physically remove biofilmswhilst being non-toxic, non-corrosive and will maintain itsefficacy at a wide range of temperatures and pH values.Odourless, colourless and tasteless, EndoSan lends itselfto many applications in the field of water treatment.Uniquely, EndoSan is also the only product of its kind toobtain NSF/ANSI Standard drinking water disinfection approval.
APPLICATION AREAS
• LEGIONELLA CONTROL• POTABLE WATER TREATMENT• WASTE WATER TREATMENT• PIPELINE & DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS
LEGIONELLA CONTROLAlthough temperature control has been the UK’slongest-serving means of controlling the growth andproliferation of Legionella in hot and cold water systems, there are other factors, including major rises in energy costs that warrant the use of biocides. In 2000,the HSE’s new ‘L8’ guidelines took this into account, giving equal weight to both temperature regimes andbiocides, such as chlorine dioxide, as control methods.
When the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) publishedHSG274 (Part 2), the most recent guidelines on thecontrol of Legionella in hot and cold water systems, they for the first time recognised the use of silver hydrogen peroxide (SHP) as an alternative biocide tomore traditional chlorinated water treatments.
EndoSan has many case studies from throughout theUK where zero CFU/ml have been shown post installation. With independently proven, unrivalled efficacy data for biofilm removal and legionella control,EndoSan is safe, environmentally acceptable and canbe dosed in very low concentrations for a complete, cost effective solution. In addition to this, the constantdosing of EndoSan allows substantial energy savingsand reduction in health risks by removing the requirement for thermal disinfection.
We offer a full range of dosing systems for use withEndoSan along with the specialist technicalassistance to assess and design the most effectivelegionella control solution in the market.

POTABLE WATERIn the United States, the highly respected and independent US based certification organisation the NationalSanitation Foundation (NSF) has certified use of EndoSan for use at levels of up to ppm in water distributionsystems, following a rigorous oral risk assessment.
As a result of these guidelines, EndoSan is now being used in Canada, as a secondary disinfectant fordrinking water treatment at Killaloe and a number of other townships, where high concentrations of carcinogenic THMs (trihalomethanes) were detected in the water and biofilm/biofouling was resulting inpoor drinking water quality.
The double solution of lowering THM levels and removing biofilm/biofouling lowered the risk of illness to theconsumers of the water and greatly improved the overall water quality. The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA)director stated that EndoSan is an “excellent alternative to chlorine as a drinking water disinfectant”. Additionally he commented that “he would suggest all water treatment systems which have problemswith THM levels and other toxic by-products replace chlorine with EndoSan.”
WASTE WATER TREATMENTMany sewage treatment plants operate in excess of their design capacity resulting in poor plant performance, increased maintenance and a discharge rate which fails to meet consent. EndoSan offers many benefits inthis area such as:
• Increases DO (dissolved oxygen) levels• Decreases BOD (biological oxygen demand)• Decreases COD (chemical oxygen demand)• Decreases TSS (total suspended solids)• Decreases H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide) levels• Sludge de-watering• Meets or exceeds stringent environmental
and health & safety standards
PIPELINE & DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMSEndoSan offers a new solution to the current methods used for pipeline disinfection in the UK. Using EndoSan avoids the use of high concentrations of chlorine based products, such as sodium hypochlorite.
EndoSan is totally non-corrosive to the system or the delivery equipment and requires less contact time to achieve the bacterial reduction or kill time. It also prevents the waste of thousands of tonnes of water, used every day, to flush the pipes of residual Hypochlorite in order to reduce the concentration down to approved levels as set by the DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate UK).
As a leave in place disinfectant with NSF & DWI approval, EndoSan willreduce the time on site avoiding the need to fill and flush pipelines ofheavily chlorinated water. Its environmentally sound credentials alsomeans the disinfection water used on the pipeline will not need to beneutralised before safe disposal, which will save considerable time and expense.

ONBOARD USES
A health club's top-of-the-line fitness equipment, can be a draw for clients, butensuring it is kept aesthetically and bacterially clean is a critical responsibility. The spread of germs and viruses through contact with water and equipment is aserious health concern. Oil and dirt le behind by users on gym equipment canquickly spread viruses such as MRSA whilst water and surfaces in and aroundswimming pools can carry disease & infection. EndoSan is a true, credible alternative to chlorine disinfection. EndoSan is environmentally sound as the active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, post disinfection it breaks down into oxygen and water leaving no harmful residues. In addition, EndoSan is colourless, odourless and tasteless providing pool users a far more enjoyable experience, without red eye or skin irritation.
SPORTS & LEISURE
Spraying a fine disinfection mist/fog into any closed area is an NHS recognised, highly effective method to ensure total coverage of surfaces and the treatment ofairborne & surface bacteria. The size of the droplets are small and when appliedin the correct proportion (to avoid 100% humidity) reaches all exposed surfacesevenly and precisely without excess wetting. EndoSan ensures a high level ofmedical grade hygiene & Infection control with proven efficacy against micro-organisms including Norovirus, C.Diff, MRSA, E-Coli, Adenovirus, Hepatitis,Polio, Influenza and even the Common Cold virus. EndoSan can be used effectively for speedy decontamination during outbreak or pro-actively forprevention. A fully detailed efficacy data file is available upon request.
CABIN INFECTION CONTROL
Healthcare facilities throughout the UK and Europe are under increasing pressureto conform to their legal requirements for managing their water, air, equipmentand environmental hygiene. The correct choice of disinfection protocol is fundamental where high numbers of patients with low immunity are open to infection. Based on more than years of research, analysis, case studies and reports from around the world, EndoSan is a scientifically proven, highly efficient, biodegradable, CE Marked medical device disinfectant.

CHLORINE COMPOUNDS VERSUS ENDOSAN
Product Description
Hypochlorites and N-chloro compounds are frequently used aschlorine compoundsfor disinfection.
Hypochlorites areavailable as an aqueous solution of inorganic salts of hypochlorite (sodium or calciumhypochlorite).Household bleach is a commonly known disinfectant, based on sodiumhypochlorite (5,25%).
Chlorine compounds are unstable and have an irritant odor and taste.
However, chlorinecompounds are theleast expensive disinfectants, whichmakes these chemicals the most popular disinfectants in theUnited Kingdom.
Mechanisms of Action
When chlorine compounds areadded to water, hypochlorous acid(HOCl) is formed, which plays a major role as disinfecting agent.
HOCl splits into H+
and OCl-, depending on the pH.OCl- falls apart tochlorine (Cl-) and oxygen atoms.
Chlorine interacts (in an oxidative way) with SH-groups of vital enzymes within thecell membrane or cell protoplasm.
When enzymes come in contact with chlorine, one of more hydrogenatoms in the molecule are replaced by chlorine.
This causes the entire molecule tochange shape and fall apart.
When enzymes don’t function properly, a cell orbacterium will die.
Final rinsing is necessary.
Germicidal Efficiency
Gram Positive and Gram Negative bacteria
Viruses – Enveloped andnon-enveloped
Fungi
Spores
Algae
Mycobacteria
Protozoa
Gaps in ActivitySpectrum
Not effective against amoebae.
Not effective in treating and removing biofilm.
The disinfection efficiency is significantly affectedby the following parameters:
1. pH chlorinecompounds lose efficiency when pH > 8;
2. Temperature chlorine compounds lose efficiency when T > 45°C;
3. The presence of organic matter reduces efficacygreatly, thus pre-cleaning of surfaces is necessary.
Chlorinecompounds are unstable, especially at hightemperature, low pH or in the presence of organic material.
Health & Safety Profile
Very toxic.
Irritating to nose, throat and skin, even at very low concentrations.
High chlorine doses can causetaste and odor problems.
Chlorine vapors aggravate asthma.
TCMs(Trichloromethanes),formed by the reaction of chlorinecompounds with organic matter, are carcinogenic and can cause mutations.
Chlorine reacts with ammonia to form chloramineswhich have an irritant odor.
Environmental Profile
Chlorine compounds are very little biodegradable.Chlorine is highlytoxic to all forms of aquatic life, thuswaste must be neutralized beforeputting to drain.
The produced TCMsare carcinogenic and the EPA maximum contaminant level for total THMs (trihalomethanes) in drinking water is100 ppb.
When chlorine compounds are mixed with acids, toxic chlorine gas will be released.
Material Compatibility
Extremely corrosiveto metals, rubbersand fabric.
Chlorine compounds can also discolor countertops/colored surfaces/fibers permanently.
Incompatible with medical instruments.

EURONORM (EN) STANDARD EFFICACY DATA
The efficacy of EndoSan was tested to EuroNorm (EN) standards by SGS, a world leading inspection, verification, testing and certification body recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity.
To be approved in accordance with each EN standard, the concentration of the test organism must be reduced to a certain level (a log reduction) within the required time frame. Log reduction provides a quantitative measurement describing what percentage of the contaminants which were present when the test began were killed during the test.
All SGS tests were carried out using a 3% H2O2 concentration of EndoSan.

ENDOSAN DOSING EQUIPMENT
DOSING SYSTEMS
GUARDIAN PULSE PLUS DOSING SYSTEM (excludes water meter)
Pulse fed, proportional dosing system with additional inbuilt traffic light chemical indicator system, lance, cable, bund, pump and associated ancillary equipment.
This dosing system is a true ‘plug and play’ system which doses proportionally to the water used via direct injection. It has the added ability to monitor the EndoSan levels in the drum and to warn on low readings. This is achievedusing a traffic light system, cable and lance which is placed inside the EndoSan drum. The beta 4 pump is manufactured to a very high standard and comes with de-gassing head at the rear. The system is all mounted on abespoke designed bund, stress tested and palletised ready for delivery to site.
GUARDIAN SMART DOSER PLUS SYSTEM (excludes water meter)
Guardian pulse plus dosing system and Smart Dulcometer (DACA) monitoring and communication system.
The Smart doser plus is a fully automated ‘smart monitoring’ and dosing system which enables full control of yourEndoSan dosing and automated adjustment via H2O2 probes. These probes take samples of the water and test forHydrogen Peroxide strength. Dependant on the dose rate the system is programmed to, the smart doser will autoadjust the pump up or down to the required levels ensuring a level concentration throughout the system. This system is perfectly suited to recycled water systems.

CASE STUDIES
One of the world's largest ferry operators had a seriousissue on-board one of their UK vessels with high legionellacounts found during the local port authority’s routine watertesting regime.
EndoSan was introduced to the company and it was agreedthat a shock disinfection of the system would be undertaken. The capacity of the system was approx 500m3.
EndoSan50 was added to the system to achieve 300-500ppm as Hydrogen Peroxide which was then drawnthrough all the outlets and left overnight. The next morningthe system was flushed with fresh water until the concentration was below 100ppm as Hydrogen Peroxide.
The local port authority requested to re-test the water withthe local public health authority 48 hours later. The subsequentresults passed all the stringent protocols required and theship was approved for use.
Disinfection of FreshWater System,UK Passenger Ferry
• PROBLEM: High legionella counts in water system
• SOLUTION: EndoSan shock dose of system and constant dosing system
• RESULT: Post Clean Legionella counts passed
Water results approved by Local Port Authority
An outbreak of gastroenteritis, confirmed as Norovirus, andaffecting 41 people who were guests & staff at a hotel inUK. Control measures included movement and work restrictions, environmental cleaning and fogging using EndoSan were deployed to contain the virus.
Consultation with local NHS trust and Environmental healthofficers produced a working hypothesis that this was a viralinfection of the Norovirus type although this was kept underreview throughout.
The hotel manager requested that EndoSan be foggedthroughout thesite for full decontamination. The whole procedure tookapproximately 3 hours with minimal disruption to the hotel.Post decontamination, no new cases of Norovirus wereidentified.
The potential source of infection was identified as guestsfrom a cruise ship who arrived at the hotel on the Wednesday evening who had contracted the virus beforearrival.
