STAR CHICAGO 2014 STAFFING SYMPOSIUM Thursday, May 15, 2014 – Mid-America Club, 80th Floor, Chicago Presented by Society of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment (STAR) Chicago PRICE STAR Chicago Member $225 Non Member $300 STAR Chicago Member Cocktail Party ONLY $30 Non Member Cocktail Party ONLY $50 Our allday annual Symposium has become the most anticipated premier talent acquisition event in Chicago. This year’s topic compels us to think differently—even provocatively— about how we approach talent acquisition. Hiring the right people is undergoing a transformation for many reasons. These shifts are causing disruptive changes that necessitate us to adapt. Technology innovations are changing HOW we interact with talent. Scarce skills, newly defined competencies and a more global workforce is impacting WHERE we look for talent. The need for speed and agility is changing WHEN we look for talent. Other factors are also shifting concurrently. Entrepreneurship is taking many candidates out of the corporate marketplace. Candidates are seeking more flexible work arrangements. Shifting value in traditional benefits—like healthcare insurance—may cause employees to view working relationships with companies differently. Therefore, the stakes in attracting and retaining the right talent is accelerating. Talent acquisition professionals need to become more agile and aligned to the business than ever before. Getting the talent equation right creates a significant competitive advantage. He will share his perspective on the workplace of tomorrow, along with an understanding of what HR will need to do to prepare for its continued transformation. These sweeping changes will impact us all, making HR and talent acquisition look massively different into the future.

Our all‐day annual Symposium has become the most anticipated premier talent acquisition event in Chicago.

We are honored and pleased to have Jason as our keynote speaker this year. Jason is a sought after speaker on the national and international speaking circuit. Jason has been named as One of the 10 World's Most Powerful HR Technology experts.

Jason says: "HR Technology is undergoing many exciting and significant changes as technology, consumer behavior and business models evolve daily, creating new opportunities to empower workforces worldwide and connect teams across the ecosystem.”

9:45 am ‐ 10:00 am BREAK AND EXHIBITOR SHOWCASE

10:00 am ‐ 11:30 am PANEL DISCUSSION ‐ PEOPLE

If finding and hiring the best talent will become even more challenging in the years ahead—are we taking a closer look at the people interacting with external talent? What type of recruiter profiles will matter most? Our moderator will share metrics on major recruiting enablers that impact quality of hire. We’ve lined up top panelists from leading companies to share how they are structuring recruiting teams a bit differently. Some have incorporated gamification to create, incent, certify and measure results. Recruiters have become brand ambassadors and talent advisors. And companies are applying consumer marketing research principles to drive better talent acquisition results. We’ll explore how some companies have strayed a bit from traditional recruiter and sourcer competencies and skill sets to impact their talent acquisition outcomes. You’ll also hear how these organizations are setting up measurements to prove these concepts work in practice.

CHANGING YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON RECRUITMENT PROCESS In this session, we ask that any preconceived ideas on your current staffing process be left at the door—including those that involve technology, legal, risk, or compliance. This session is meant to make you think differently in order to achieve different results. We’ll ask more questions for you to ponder for your organizations than give answers, as we provocatively examine the recruitment process more closely. For example, where might we be inadvertently losing good talent along the way? Brand-conscious organizations are taking a closer look at "candidate-customers”. Is technology driving your process—or supporting it? In this engaging session, we will pull out a clean sheet of paper and look at achieving a talent-centric staffing process, learn about "Voice of Customer” research that we can apply to the candidate experience, and the candidate-customer’s perceptions of Procedural Justice.

3:00 pm ‐ 4:15 pm PANEL DISCUSSION – TECHNOLOGY

We wrap up our session with several CEOs and executive leaders at the talent technology forefront. Everyone knows that technology is one of the fastest and most disruptive drivers of change—and recruitment technology is no different. We accept the fact that there’s no stopping the speed at which these innovations are evolving. But how is talent technology creating a better experience for candidates? Can predictive technology truly help us select and hire better? How do we evaluate the investment return, and will technology integration challenges become a topic of the past? You already know many of their products—but now let’s engage the minds of these senior leaders through a business lens for talent acquisition. After all, they are at the helm of investment and strategy decisions for their solutions, and they are carefully watching the evolving talent acquisition industry change and unfold.
