1. SCOPE
This SOP pertains to all HART employees involved with collection, retaining and returning lost articles found in, on or around any Authority property.
2. PURPOSE
HART is not responsible for articles left in, on, or around Authority property. The purpose of this SOP is to establish chain of custody procedures for lost articles.

Representative Marketing/Customer Service employee or Dispatcher accepting lost item(s), dependant on location.

7. PROCEDURE
A. Dispatchers will contact Operators via OrbCAD message and/or voice radio for the following lost articles:
1. Wallets
2. Purses
3. Medication
4. Glasses
5. Keys
B. For lost and found items not listed above, the individual is advised to contact the Lost and Found MTC office on the next working day after 9am.

C. Log and contact Safety and Security Analyst at 813-309-1623 for instructions on handling:
1. Weapons
2. Firearms
3. Drugs and/or drug paraphernalia
NOTE: If the Safety and Security Analyst is unavailable, Dispatch
should contact Tampa Police Department for removal assistance.
D. Dispatch will contact Facilities Maintenance for proper disposal of the following:
1. Hazardous or flammable liquids, materials, solids or any other
article hazardous to human health in any way.
2. All items which will spoil, such as food products.
3. Operators will be instructed to dispose of any personal hygiene articles, such as combs and hairbrushes. Shoes and clothing that smells or is soiled will also be discarded for health reasons.
4. Items found by 21st Avenue Maintenance employees before 1700hrs will be turned in to the Shop Office Supervisor. After 1700hrs, items will be turned in to the Service Lane Supervisor and given to Bus Dispatch.
5. Valuable items (over $10.00) will be held in a locked container in Dispatch until picked up by a Marketing Representative. All claimants must be over 18 years of age with proof of ID to claim any item of value.
6. Lost Article Form – OP05-RV0608 must be completed in its entirety by the employee. No item may be dropped off without an authorized employee receiving the article.
7. Found money must be counted in the presence of another HART employee and the amount noted and initialed on the form by both employees.
8. Bicycles stored at 21st Avenue can only be claimed by appointment with a representative of Safety and Security.
a. A Lost Bike tag, located in Window Dispatch, must be completed with the date the bicycle was turned in. The tag must be attached to the bicycle.
b. Dispatch will advise Facilities that a bicycle needs to be secured.

9. A digital photo will be taken and stored on the K drive for bicycles and large items.
10. Small items will be stored in a locked drop box in Dispatch and picked up by a representative from Marketing/Retail Sales for transport to MTC.
E. Marketing/Retail Sales Representatives
1. Transport items to MTC.
2. Follow chain of custody including not leaving found articles unattended.
3. Ensure that Lost Article Form – OP05-RV0608 is completely and properly filled out and photos are attached as required.
