Gary Brown provided each club members with a clean polished plate because it was his

last meeting with our club due to upcoming relocation to Kingston, Ontario. Each mem-ber was presented with chocolates by Bernard Callebaut from Wynne as a small token of her appreciation in completing her term as president and in becoming the latest Past

President or PP as they like to refer themselves as.

The last few members in the buffet line were treated to some lovely short lived pyrotech-nics. Trying to fill her plate with fruit, Wynne set the box of remaining chocolates down beside a chaffing dish and the box was set on fire, giving a new meaning to ‘hot choco-

late’.

Minute People

• Wynne – Presented the motion, which was emailed to every club member earlier this week, making District 5360 ‘not for profit’. Motion was second by Norm Haines. Betty Little asked why July 11, 2007? Wynne explained that the motion had to be passed

within 45 days after the District Conference. Club voted – motion carried.

• Wynne – Every club is allowed to provide a small parting gift when members leave.

Gary Brown, the club is providing you with yours and your wife’s name tags.

• Wynne – Apologized to Marion Barrett for failing to mention her as Director of Voca-

tional Services at the District Conference.

• Al Hardstaff – The Harry Hays breakfast on July 08, sign-up sheet is being circulated.

• Jamie Powell – District Conference and the Rotary Museum opening can be used for

make-up meetings, a sheet will be circulated for those who have attended.

Wynne – This is a reminder that there will be no meetings for the next two weeks, due to

the Golf Tournament and the Stampede Parade.

Paul Harris

Graham Drake and Betty Little were presented with their Paul Harris award this morning.

Congratulations to you both on becoming members of this distinguish club.

Thought of the week:

Remember we all stumble, that’s why it is comforting to walk hand –

in – hand. Jamie Powell – District Conference

and the Rotary Museum opening can

be used for make-up meetings, a

sheet will be circulated for those who

have attended

Gary and Wynn provide each club

members with a clean plate. This

was Gary’s last meeting and Wynn’s

last meeting as a President.

Graham and Betty were presented with

their Paul Harris award

Al Hardstaff reminded everyone

about the upcoming Harry Hay’s

Breakfast

Dr. Jim Hennessy provided the club

with a Public Service Announcement:

“In a number of carefully controlled tri-als, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have ab-sorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli (E. Coli) bacteria found in feces. In

other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine, rum, whiskey, beer or other liquor because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling,

filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember water = poop where as wine = health.

Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. There’s no need to thank me for this valuable information; I’m doing

this as a public service.”

Also the following members were celebrating birthdays or anniver-

saries:

• Helen Buchanan – Wedding Anniversary

• Max Patel – Wedding Anniversary

Surinder Khanna – Birthday. Surinder you’re looking good for 39.

Coverage of the 2007 RI Convention

Site change for the 2009 RI Convention

Rotary International News

Salt Lake City — The Rotary International Board of Directors has changed the tentative site of the 2009 RI Convention from Seoul to Birmingham, England. The event was provisionally

scheduled in Seoul for 21-24 June 2009.

The change was necessary because some segments of the planning for the convention were behind schedule. These delays and other associated issues hindered the ability of local Ro-

tary clubs to organize and host such a large-scale, international meeting.

Rotary International's annual convention is a worldwide gathering of Rotary members who participate in a broad agenda of plenary sessions and workshops focused on how Rotary

clubs help to make the world a better place through volunteer service.

The decision was taken at the conclusion of the 2007 Rotary convention in Salt Lake City,

USA, attended by nearly 17,000 Rotary members.
