How to select a magnifier Selecting the right magnifier depends on several factors including your specific use. There are two main items for you to consider. The first, is light and the second is application to select the correct magnification power. Will you always have adequate light or will there be times you will need more? If you need a constant light source, consider LED since it offers bright light that is long lasting, and it does not overheat. Which magnification power will you need? Are you trying to get a nice broad view of an item (a lower magnification power will give you a bigger lens), or do you need help to read regular or fine text (generally 3x to 5x will work), or do you need to inspect intricate details of an object (use 7x up to 200x)?
