Stainless SteelStainless steel atau lebih dikenal dengan Baja tahan karat adalah senyawa besi yang mengandung setidaknya 10,5% kromium untuk mencegah proses korosi (pengkaratan logam).
Kemampuan tahan karat diperoleh dari terbentuknya lapisan film oksida Kromium, dimana lapisan oksida ini menghalangi proses oksidasi besi (Ferum).

Stainless Steel 316• Tipe 316 adalah stainless steel austenitik kromium nikel yang mengandung 2-3% molibdenum. Penambahan ini meningkatkan ketahanan korosi, meningkatkan ketahanan terhadap pitting dari ion klorida, dan memberikan peningkatan kekuatan pada temperatur tinggi.
