Step1:Cuttissuepapershapes.Thesecanberegularorirregular,largeorsmall.Step2:Begintolayoutthedesignonyourplasticsheet.(It’salsoOKtowingitanddesignasyouglue!)Youcansetpiecesoftissuepapernexttoeachother,oryoucanoverlapthemforalayeredeffect.Step3:Startgluing!Youcancreateadesignwiththegluebymakingdotsorzigzagsonyourplasticsheet.Yourgluedesignwillshowthroughonyourfinishedproduct.
Youcanalsouseapaintbrushtocreateathin,evenlayerofglueacrosstheentireplasticsheet.Step4:Whenyoufinishgluingdownyourtissuepaper,waitatleast10minutesforthegluetostartdrying.Then,usescissorstocutoffanyexcesspaperfromtheedgesofthestainedglass.Step5:Optional:Usecardstocktocreateaframe.Cutapieceofcardstockthatisthesamesizeorslightlylargerthanyourplasticsheet.Pokeaholeinthecenterofthecardstock,thencutfromthatholetoabout¼”awayfromtheedge.Cutoutarectanglefromtheinside,leavinganeven¼”allthewayaround.Gluetheframeontopofyourstainedglass.Step6:Usecleartapetoattachaloopoffishinglinetothebackofyourstainedglass.Thiswillbeyourhanger.Hangyourstainedglassinasunnywindow,andenjoy!

The Arts and Crafts MovementThemachinesandmanufacturingprocessesthatemergedinEuropeduringtheIndustrialRevolution(1760–1840)madeeverydayobjectseasiertoproduceandmoreaffordable.Thepopularityofthesemass-producedgoods—especiallytextiles—eventuallyledtolessdemandfordecorativehandmadepieces.
DesignerWilliamMorrisbecameincreasinglydiscouragedbywhatheviewedasthelossoffinecraftsmanshipinthedecorativearts.In1861,hefoundedaworkshopofartists,decorators,designers,metalworkers,craftsmen,andjewelerswhoweredevotedtorestoringartandcraftinthemidstoftheirincreasinglyindustrialsociety.
Morris’sworkshopcreatedhand-craftedtextiles,furniture,metalwork,pottery,jewelry,wallpaper,andbooks.InterestinthisArtsandCraftsmovementgrewoverthenextthreedecadesandspreadfromBritaintoEuropeandNorthAmerica,whereitinfluencedsuchdesignersasFrankLloydWrightandLouisSullivan.

AkeyfeatureoftheArtsandCraftsmovementisafocusonfinedetailandartistry.ConsidertheobjectsthatyouviewedinVisionMakers2018.ThisCraftKitallowsyoutousetissuepapertocreatedesignsin“stainedglass”thatevokethelines,shapes,andformsthatmostappealedtoyou.
Step 2:
