Stages of Desire

-Next! -I heard a voice announce from inside of the small room in the

backstage. I felt butterflies in my stomach, I was the last one standing in

the line and deep down I knew I wasnt prepared. A few minutes later

another boy came out of the room with a sad face. Seemed like no one had

reached their expectations until now, and I sure wasnt going to be the one

doing so. Someone let out a deep breath that showed the boredom they

were feeling after such a long audition.

-Next. another voice said, hopelessly. I entered the room and was amazed

for an instant that seemed more like a century. Jareds eyes, even though

filled with pure boredom, were pure blue. Tomo and Shannon smiled at me

gently and Tomo made a sign for me to sit down.

-Well first start with playback, then well go capella. Shannon explained

and I silently nodded. He pushed a button on the radio and I smiled,

surprised, when Hurricane started playing.

No matter how many times

The entire song I didnt actually looked at them, hoping fear wouldnt break

my voice. When I finished singing the last verse, I took the chance and

looked at them; they were enigmatic, impossible to read. I was scared for a

moment.

-Sing one capella. Shannon asked, still unreadable like Jared and Tomo. I

nodded and, this time, the entire song was sung looking in their eyes.

What if I wanted to break

Laugh it all off on your face

Their eyes were filled with some kind of flame I couldnt express and I

didnt understood. When Jared spoke, his velvet-like voice gave me chills.

-Follow me. he said and got up. Damn, the man had a voice. He took me

onstage and sat on his black piano, making a sign for me to sit by his side. Iblushed violently and they all looked at me for a moment.

-You know Alibi? Jared asked and I nodded silently. Alright, then join me.

His fingers smoothly started playing and it produced a familiar melody that

filled my ears.

No one inside, no alibi

Were fading faster to the speed of light

Took our chance, crashed and burned

Know Ill never ever learn

I sang Alibi trying not to pay attention to the fact that Jareds arm was

touching mine. He sang with me the chorus but stayed silent during other

parts of the song, guess so he could listen to my voice better.

-Wow. Tomo, standing by his guitar stand across the stage, was the first

to break the silence after Alibi finished. Shannon stood by Tomo and his

eyes showed the same kind of flames that Tomos eyes showed, a flame of

amazement.

-I see -Jared murmured. When I finally looked away from Shannon and

Tomo, and looked at Jared, I instantly wished I wouldnt have done so.

Instantly I felt my body tingle and felt a little dizzy. Damn I shouldnt

forget to breath
