Writing Listen to Mrs Frawley’s reading of The Rainbow Fish written by Marcus Pfister (Published by Walker Books, 1992). Write a description of the Rainbow Fish. What does the Rainbow Fish look like? Is he happy, sad, friendly, mean or kind? Make a word bank before you start writing. Use lots of describing words to write your description. Year 1 – Write two or three sentences describing the Rainbow Fish. Year 2 – Write three or more sentences describing the Rainbow Fish. Spelling In Tuesday’s column write your spelling words in alphabetical order. Optional Spelling Activity: Year 1 - Write a list of words with the sound 'sm’ and the double letters ‘ee’. Year 2 - Write a list of words with the sound 'oy’ and the double letters ‘dd’. Use the worksheets provided. (Brainstorm words that are not already in your spelling list.) Writing During the story Rainbow Fish learns how to be a good friend to the other fish in the sea. What do you think makes someone a good friend. Write 5 steps for being a good friend or 5 ways of being a good friend. Eg 1. Listen to what your friend has to say. 2. Help your friend when they are having trouble with something.

Brain Break: Play your favourite song and sing or dance along.

Spelling Use Friday’s column for a spelling test! Ask a parent or sibling to test you on your words from this week.

Handwriting Complete the handwriting sheet for the letter ‘D d’. *Remember to use a sharp pencil so that the letters are neat and formed correctly. Also, check that your capital and lowercase letters are on the right lines.

Easier – Take turns finding two numbers that add up to 10. Explain your answer to your partner. Harder – Take it in turns to find combinations of numbers that add up to 20. Listen to the reading of ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’ by Bob Graham. In the story Edie tries ice cream for the first time. Follow the recipe to make your very own ice cream at home.

Use this time to catch up on any work you have not completed (optional) or have some free play time or go for a walk with an adult.

Colour By Number Rainbow Fish

Follow the instructions at the top of the worksheet. You will need 7 different coloured pencils, crayons or textas. Colour each section of the picture to match the colour code at the top of the page. You can add some foil or glitter on the fish scales. Your picture should have no white spaces left over.

Complete the Rocket Design Worksheet and upload to Seesaw. You can use a variety of materials you have available at home – paper plates, bowls, paper cups, straws, cardboard, egg cartons, pipe cleaners etc.
